Friday's Fave Five #527

Happy Friday everyone!  It's the day of the week when we intentionally take a pause to reflect back on the week and take note of the blessings that God has sent our way.  Big or small.  Noticeable or one's that we had to search a little harder for.  They are all meant to uplift us and let us know we are loved.  Please join us as we share 5 of them.

~ four more sleeps!! ~ Four more sleeps and this gal is on her way to Costca Rica with Samaritan's Purse for an Operation Christmas Child shoebox distribution.  We received our itineraries this week and not only are we going to give those precious kids shoebox gifts, but our team will also be involved in 2 Tom's shoes distributions.  How exciting is that?  If you didn't know, with every North American Tom's Shoe purchase, Tom's Shoes donates a pair of shoes to a child in a developing country.  I am beyond excited to get to take part in both.  We had a conference call last night with the whole team from across Canada and I can't wait to meet them and make new friendships.

~ this recipe ~  White Girl Dahl (Indian Spiced Red Lentil, Tomato and Stew).  Hubby and I are trying to make an effort to try and eat at least 2 plant protein based or meatless meals each week.  Some of the ones we've tried have been ok/not bad but nothing has really grabbed me and made me want to make it again.  Until this one.  Oh my goodness, we both loved this.  It was easy, peasy and absolutely delicious.  I served it over rice, which hubby loves, with a variety of fresh, cold veggies to counter act the heat.  Sooo good.  We'll be making this one again.

~ packing youtube videos ~ I have been perusing these for weeks and have picked up some great tips that I'll be using.  I am a notorious overpacker and I haven't been on a plane in 30 years.  That things have really changed since then is an understatement.  These videos have really helped squelch the packing anxiety for me.

~ handy hubby ~ I am so thankful for Hubby who is really handy and can fix all sorts of things.  Though he hates when he always has to be Mr. FixIt, it really is a blessing and saves a lot on labor costs.

~ support of friends ~ What a comfort it is to have some ladies who I know I can talk to and know they will listen with their hearts and will pray for me.  I am very thankful  to have those kinds of people in my life and do not take it for granted.  I hope I am the same kind of person for them.

What are your favorite blessings from the week?

I will be taking a break from hosting next week as I will be gone on my trip.  Please feel free to post if you like.  I'll try and get a linky to auto post.  See you in a couple of weeks.

The airplane you have known 30 years ago are like the oldies in cars ! Nothihg to do with modern flight ! Once friend who was more in a plane then on ground told to watch to stewards as long as they are chatting and moving around nothing dangerous will happen. Since I keep an eye on them I feel like ridingin a bus !!

I'm so excited for you! Can't wait to hear all about the trip. I pray everything goes well and God will make this a wonderful experience for the team and those they minister to.

In January I flew for the first time in ten years. I tend to overpack, too, to be prepared for any contingency. It never occurred to me to look up videos on packing - I will do that next time!

I always feel bad for my husband, too, when a lot of fixes are needed, but I am so thankful he can take care of them.

What a blessing to have supporting, praying friends.

Hello from Idaho and stop in from Gattina. Not sure why giving makes people feel better. I know it does me.
If you have time stop in for a cup of coffee.
