Author Charles Martin's Response to The Mountain Between Us movie

For those of you interested, here is Charles Martin's response to the backlash of how the movie was changed from his book.  While I was disappointed it didn't follow the book better, I thought this response was excellent and I have used the opportunity to talk with others about the changes and direct them to the excellent story and messages in the book.  In fact, half the ladies during my workout time at gym are getting the book to read which is great because it will spur more discussion.

Thanks for sharing that, Susanne. I hadn't thought about the fact that the movie would bring more attention to the book, and probably also to his other books and future books. It would be nice if they could negotiate before contracts were signed not to have sex scenes in it - I don't know if that's possible. But once the rights are sold, it's pretty much all up to the new owners.

Thank for the link, Susanne. What an incredible heart Charles Martin has. I've read a few of his books, but now I want to read all of them! It's also interesting to hear about how the book and movie industry work together. I had an idea, but this really explains it more thoroughly.

Barbara H.: Yes, I don’t know if that is possible either. The movie industry will do what it has to to bring in viewers and therefore dollars. They have to pay for the making of the movie and can’t lose money. So I don’t know if that always meshes. I do know, however, that it has opened the door for me personally, to talk at the lady’s gym I go to about the movie and the book and a whole bunch of ladies are now reading the book and I hope they will read other's of his books. I’m praying it will give me a chance to share the gospel in some way. That’s a good thing!

WOW that is a great response. I am definitely going to read the book and I probably won't see the movie unless it comes out on Netflix but I just loved his answer. He sounds like a wonderful Christian man.
