Fridays' Fave Five #407

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Friday's Fave Five.  I'd like to wish all my American friends a very happy Thanksgiving weekend.  I know most of you have feasted yesterday and are now possibly  in the throes of Black Friday shopping or in the very least recovering from food coma.  But seeing it is Thanksgiving we will join together and find our blessings and be thankful!  Please join us!

1.  Celebrating my hubby.  It was birthday time for Hubby this week so Sunday we took him for a yummy dinner of his choice which was Tony Roma's for some melt in your mouth ribs and steak.  Then we just let him do whatever he wanted for the afternoon.  The kids from out of town called him on his actual day and sent cards and gifts.  It was really nice to honor the good man who leads our little family.

2.  Good laughs with friends.  I'm very thankful to have a couple of friends who I can really have some good laughs with.  I so appreciate that.  Sometimes life is so hard and serious that to just spend a half hour with these friends and just be able to let loose with some good laughter is good for the soul and a real stress release.  Very thankful for friends like that.

3.  Good discussions.  We've been having some really good discussions at our ladies study.  My group is a wonderful bunch of ladies who come from all sorts of walks of life, are at all sorts of stages of life, and different levels of Christian maturity.  Add to that that they are all willing to participate and share their ideas and thoughts because we feel safe with each other and some really good discussion always happens.  I really like this.  It grows me as a study leader and it's lots of fun and I learn lots from these amazing ladies.

4.  Candle scents.  Bath and Body had a great sale on their candles yesterday so I splurged on a couple.  There were so many great new scents but I came home with Fresh Balsalm, my hubby's choice, and Hot Cocoa and Cream which was my choice.

5.  Cooking accomplishment by my two who don't live at home.  My oldest girl made her favorite Hungarian dish all by herself this week, Paprikash Chicken and Nokedli (tiny dumplings).  It's the first times she's given it a try and from all reports it was quite successful.  And my son made cabbage rolls for him and his roommates.   And again reports were it was delicious.  So proud of them for trying to cook well for themselves.  I just wish I could have tried the dishes for myself.  Maybe I can talk them into cooking while they are here for holidays?!

What were your favorite blessings this week?

Your hubby indeed had a happy birthday ! It's not such a good time to have the birthday so short before Christmas, lol (I mean as a child for the gifts) I think laughing is the best therapy, and having fun with friends is great.

It's hard letting our children go but when you see them making a good job of things it can be so satisfying. Have a good weekend.

Happy birthday to your hubby! It is awesome when thenooder children remember, too! and yay for your older kids trying new recipes!! thats one glessing from having my oldest girl still living at home while she tries to find a jib in her field: she helps cook and is quite good at it.

It is always a blessing to have a good Bible study group and friends to laugh with.

I have only done black friday twice in my life ( once was last year) and i am NOT a fan of the crowds, the noise, the stuffiness, etc. this morning as i tyoe all are sleeping here at my inlaws except me and my hubby. it is a little overcast here in eastern MA near Plymouth and we have a local hike planned for later this morning after my oldest leaves to go back to NY due to working tonight. I will hit up some cyber monday sales and then do the rest in local shops in Albany and Saratoga, etc. Today is a day for family!!

Happy birthday to your hubby! A day to do what one wants is the ideal present.

Glad your kids' cooking experiments went well! It's fun to see what they come up with. I've been surprised that my oldest son gets much more adventurous than I have been with cooking, and I have even learned some things from him. Like you, I wish I could sample them!

It's great to have friends to laugh with as well as friends to have deep discussions with.

Having people to both share laughs and deeply discuss things of the heart are some of the greatest blessings in this life. So glad you got to experience both this week!

I shared about my kids cooking this week, too. What will be great is when they do all the cooking and we just get to share the fruits of their labors!

I'm very impressed with your youngsters' success with family favorite recipes! I remember the first time I made phở and the familiar fragrance that emanated from the pot.

That's such a great fave -- the level of engagement and discussion at your Bible study. Wonderful. Lots to be thankful for, not least of which your dear husband's birthday!
