Friday's Fave Five #364

Welcome to the first of February's Friday's Fave Five.  Another month to take our Friday to pause and reflect on the good things that God daily sends into our lives to bless us and uplift us.  Join us in sharing our five favourites of the past week.

1.  The gift of friendship.  I so appreciate my dear friend.  We haven't known each other more than 5 years but in that time we have developed an extremely close bond.  Unfortunately, last year their family moved to another province.  Though I miss her terribly, there is always the phone and I appreciate her listening ear.  I sure needed it this week.  As always I hung up in a much better head space after talking with her.

2.  Smooth mornings.  I am so not a morning person so when I have a super smooth morning I am always very appreciative of it.  And by super smooth I mean no one talks to me until I've had my first coffee.  I need peace and quiet until that is accomplished.  No noise, no voices, no music blaring.  Then the next step is there are no hiccups, no stresses or major events that put me behind in getting ready for work. Yay for a couple of mornings like that this week.

3.  Yummy salad made up on the spot.  Saturday I was trying to throw something together for supper for the two of us.  Peering into the fridge it was slim pickins'.  But this is what I came up with:  Very thin sliced red cabbage, yellow pepper, fresh cilantro, black beans and lime italian dressing.  Was it it ever good.  Went perfect with the jalapeno peppers and chicken that we had.

4.  Easy peasy reads.  Sometimes you just need a book that lets you escape without having to think too much.  This week I definitely needed one of those and my review book for this month totally fit the bill.  Romantic suspense that just let me wind down.

5.  American Idol.  Been really enjoying this last season of a show I've been watching since season 1.  I think this year it's been produced and edited really well.  And I love how it's really focused on the positive and the talent and not so much on the weird auditions.  I am going to miss this show.

Well that wraps up my five for the week.  What were your favourites for the week?

That's a pity that your friend moved away, but there is Skype ! Each weekend I see and talk with son and grandson and it's so nice to see each other at the same time.
I am like you in the mornings ! First my coffee !

Good friends are hard to come by these days. Life is so busy the bonding time just isn't there.
I'm not a morning person either. Most mornings are pretty bumpy around here (teenage boy left at home). :)
I am looking forward to an easy read. David Copperfield is very long and tedious.
We don't get much television time around here. After work we go straight to the gym, come home to fix dinner, and then prepare for the next day.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend Susanne!

Glad you had a good conversation with your friend who is away. I am not a morning person, either, and unfortunately can no longer have caffeine. I do miss its help. But I still don't like to be talked to or have any noise going on for the first little bit after I get up. I usually like getting up before everyone else for that reason even though I'd prefer getting up an hour or so later.

Sometimes light reading just fits the bill. I enjoy AI, too. Some of my favorites did make the top 24!

It's terrific that you are still connected with your close friend. Isn't it wonderful to just "click" with certain people God brings into our lives?

Love your bouquet of blessings that include small joys and easy relaxation.

It's great to have a listening ear!

I so enjoy American Idol, too. I'm really going to miss it. I only started watching it in 2012 ...

Smooth, quiet, caffeinated mornings are the best! I'm glad you got one.

That 'clean the frig out' dinner sounds like a perfect meal.

The times I've tuned in to American Idol this season I've really enjoyed it, too. Your salad sounds delicious!
Glad you've had a good week!

It's wonderful to meet a new friend at this stage in life. I have one that has been in my life for about the past 10 years and while old friendships are great for the history shared, it's also nice to have that person who sees you with a new set of eyes.

I have never watched American Idol. There. I said it. I think I'm the only person in American who hasn't! (But I do have addictions to other shows.)

You are so creative in the kitchen!
