Friday's Fave Five #320

I know it's not quite spring yet but, my goodness, I am ready to get away from the grey colors of winter so I pulled out the spring button.  C'mon spring!!  Thanks for joining me in Friday's Fave Five once again.  Looking back over the week to notice my blessings just helps get the weekend off on the right foot, so here we go:

1.  The days getting longer.  It is so nice not to have to start work in the dark and end the work day in the dark!  The longer days are just a boost to my spirits.  Though this weekend might mess with that a bit in the mornings seeing as we spring ahead an hour and it will be a bit dark once again.  That won't last long however.

2.  Spring decorations.  The winter decorations are finding the way of the winter button and making way for the fresher lighter colors of spring.  A little here and a little there are making their way out of the box and into the kitchen and living.  I know I'm hurrying it a bit but it's making me feel good. If it's not gonna be spring quite yet outside, it will be inside!

3.  Movie we actually watched through to the end.  I usually try and borrow a couple of movies from the library for the weekend.  Our library has "blockbusters" for rent for 3 days, new releases that did well at the box office and they are free.  Or we rent them off our provider where they are not free.  But the last few weekends we haven't had much luck with them.  We have turned off I don't know how many movies over the last few weekends because they were boring, not our tastes, or filled with too much explicitness, vulgar language or gratuitous violence.  Which isn't so bad when it's the free library ones but a real bummer when it's a paid for one.  This last weekend we happened to hit on one that we actually both were enjoying and watched all the way through.  And bonus...it was a freebie from the library.  "The Giver" broke our bad run of movie picks.

4.  A new favourite drink to add to my repertoire.  Last week they had a big sign up at the corner Starbucks advertising a Blossoming Peach Tea Latte.  Sounded good so I thought I'd break out of my coffee mold.  Yum, yum.  Earl Grey tea with peach syrup, milk and whipped cream.  Soooo good.  How did I not know of this before?

5.  Tree trim.  We have an indoor plant that for reasons only it knows has been scraggly and thin even though it's in a great window and we baby it.  It's been that way for years and years.  We finally had the guts to go ahead chop it right back, put the tops into another bucket to try and root it, and left one short stem that seemed to be doing okay.  Keeping our fingers crossed that it will not only barely survive but thrive!  Nice not to be looking at the scraggly sickly looking thing in the window anymore.

What were your favourite blessings for the week?

Earl Grey tea? Yum!
Spring is coming, both inside and outside! Be encouraged! And focus on those spring decorations when the outside is still wintry. :)

The Earl Grey with the peach syrup sounds wonderful. I'm picky about what movies I watch as well and usually get a review from someone before I rent it. Have a great weekend.

I've been enjoying more sunlight during the days, too. It really does boost one's spirit.

I was just thinking this week of going ahead and putting out spring decorations.

I am not good with plants at all, especially indoor ones, but I have one given to me at Christmas that I am trying to keep going. Hope yours springs up with new growth.

Longer days are the best!

I'm looking up that movie. I know that feeling about mediocre or the DNF ones.

That tea combination sounds intriguing. You are adventurous to try it -- and like it! Yay.

And good move for that indoor plant. Sometimes it's the reset they need to cheer up or be dug up. Happy weekend, Susanne.

I'm really appreciating the long days as well. So nice to see the sun when I get up. although with "Spring Ahead" weekend coming up, that will change for a little while at least.

Earl Grey tea with peach syrup, milk and whipped cream sounds really yummy. I'll have to give it a try.

thanks so much for the review of "The Giver" - I liked the book and am glad to know you enjoyed the movie too. I'll put it on my list.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hurray for Spring. Sorry to say, Susanne, it is Spring here (in Northern CA) already.

Sometimes it mystifies me that while some babied plants are all scraggly and yet some neglected ones thrive. I hope your scraggly plant's haircut makes a difference.

I saw The Giver at the theater and it was good. Now I want/need to read the book. I haven't checked my library in a long time to see what movies they offer. I think I will do that soon.

I hear of the most interesting teas and drinks at your blog. I couldn't find wonderberry but I did try a salted caramel tea in your honor the other day. I liked it!

I love longer days, too. So looking forward to Daylight Savings time!

Always good to find a good movie. As a teacher, I'm always on the lookout for good ones. So much of what's out there is junk.

That tea sounds really good. I'll have to see if they make it here. I'm having a hard time resisting spring stuff in the stores. I'm so excited to get out in the garden, but it's going to be a while, so today I bought some fun little garden decorations. At least I can look at that until the flowers start coming up;)

Just found your blog and am stopping in to say hello. I liked seeing your book reviews and how they meet your particular challenges!

Little House in the Big Woods is a book I love. The last line of that book is a favorite of mine that gets me choked up nearly every time. :)

Hi Nicole! Welcome to my little corner of the World Wide Web! I went and visited at your site and it's lovely. I couldn't leave a comment though because you had to be a google + member to do so.
