Friday's Fave Five #308

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five.  Happy Thanksgiving to all my American bloggy friends.  I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.  And how appropriate is FFF for this weekend?  Are you all ready to look for and share what you are thankful from this past week?

1.  5 Stores - no purchase.  Why on earth would this be a blessing you ask?  Especially as the Christmas season kicks off?  Well those stores were Christmas/decorating type stores and if you knew my history in one of those, well, let's just say the "no purchase" is not a part of my past record in those kinds of stores.   But this year, I have been to several Ladies nights at these stores and not felt at all compelled to buy a thing.  Yes, everything was real pretty.  But for whatever reason, this year, I did not feel compelled to bring any of it home.  That, my friends, is a miracle.  I can't explain it other than to say I feel content this year with what I have.  And I hope it continues!

2.  Birthday dinner.  We finally celebrated Hubby's birthday last Sunday.  He's a pretty lay low kind of guy.  Doesn't like parties, especially surprise ones.  So just our little family celebrated him at a favorite restaurant with a wonderful meal.  I was a special afternoon for him and that made it a blessing.

3.  Surprise gift of a Starbuck's.  One of my dayhome parents came bearing a gift of a venti flavored coffee for me the other day.  What a lovely surprise.  It makes me feel very appreciated.

4.  Special time spent with a friend.  In all the busyness that is starting it was really nice to spend a couple of evenings with a friend.  Being able to relax and just be myself and have fun is a real blessing.

5.  A relatively peaceful day as a new roof was being installed.  I was a bit worried that a day of constant hammering was really going to affect the kids in the dayhome but they handled it like troopers and played really nicely all day.  The two babes even slept their usual amount and didn't get woken up from the loud noises.  The peaceful silence when the roofers were all done was absolute bliss to me.  I'm very thankful that all went smooth.

What are the blessings that were your favorites from your week?

Ah, contentment -- a wonderful gift to have ;-)

Many good wishes to your dear husband!

A new roof? You are brave to schedule one at this changeable season. But then, sudden snow storms could come any time... So glad things went smoothly, even for your little ones.

Happy weekend, Susanne!

Wow, your little daycare kiddos did great sleeping through all the noise. And yes, the silence after is bliss, isn't it?
Mmmmm, now I really want a soy peppermint mocha!
Thanks for your Thanksgiving greetings--yes we had a great day!

A lovely week you had with y little ones sleeping through the noise of getting a new roof. Being able to relax in a time that's getting more filled with so many activities of the season is wonderful.

Oh we are so much alike!! I can't usually help my self either in those decor stores!! In fact, this year, I am giving away many of my Xmas and winter decorations to simplify my home. It actually feels good. I'm still out here in Plymouth County MA and it just started to snow this morning! We head back to NY tomorrow so we are hoping the white stuff stops by this evening. You are blessed that your dayhome ran smoothly during the roofing. And happy birthday to your hubby!! OH..i'm almost done reading Love Anthony. OMGOODNESS susanne...it is SOOOOO good.you would love it. a tear jerker in some ways and an eye opener. have a happy weekend.

I have so much Christmas stuff already, it has to be something really special or pretty for me to buy anything new.

I'm like your husband - that is my favorite kind of birthday celebration.

I am glad the roof installation went well, especially for the sleeping babies.

The coffee gift and time with a friend sound lovely.

That's funny usually I always buy a little something although the attic is full of Christmas decoration, but this year ? Nothing, I am not tempted at all !

Congrats on being content with the Christmas goodies you already have! I think most of us like to add something every year but at some point you have to say "enough."

Happy birthday to your hubby. Dinner out is how we like to celebrate birthdays, too.

Glad the roofing went smoothly. Not too long ago we got a new roof, I think maybe our carpenters were louder than yours - can't imagine babies sleeping through it!

Wow! A roof done in a day is a miracle all in itself! Glad you had a nice celebration for hubby. Well done with the shopping experience...

Oh Jerralea: It was VERY loud!! It was an absolute miracle those two slept so soundly!

I love to prowl around stores with Christmas decorations - especially the ones like Hobby Lobby where I can make my own. I've not ventured there yet this year. Have a great day.
