Friday's Fave Five #258

Is it Friday already?  Where on earth did this week go?  Seems like I just typed up last week's FFF and here we are again.  But that's the perfect time to intentionally pause and look for the blessings.  Please join in!

1.  Operation Christmas Child boxes loaded and delivered!  I had a car load from my church to take to the collection center.  Once again I got such a thrill imagining each box being opened by a child.   I love being involved with this ministry.  For everyone who packed a box or two (or 6 like one special lady at my gym!) this video is for you!

2.  Connections Pot Luck after service on Sunday.  A special lunch so that new people can meet and connect with others in our church.  I love events like this.  Sometimes it's so hard to meet people as they are rushing out the door to get home to that roast in the oven.  This gave opportunity to sit and relax and just get to know someone I might otherwise not have met for quite some time or someone who was normally out of usual comfort zone.
3.  A surprise lunch with a friend.  My friend and I were scheduled to work at the soup kitchen last Saturday but when we got there they had an over abundance of helpers, so she took me for lunch and we did a bit of Christmas decorating shopping.  What a nice time with a good friend.
4.  Brandied Pear candle.  Purchased at above mentioned shopping trip.  Smells. so. good.  And it was a great price on top of it all.

5.  Saving the best for last, cooking Hubby's favorite dinner for his birthday!  It was a real pleasure cooking his favorite meal for him, a small way of letting him know I love him, knowing how happy he'd be about it.  Happy birthday, Sweetie!
What were your favorite blessings this week?

That's nice to collect gifts for children in need. We have that here too, but it's not organized by churches but the cities or private organizations.
I am sure your hubby had the best birthday meal !

Happy Birthday to your hubby!
What a wonderful thing you've done for all those children. Those boxes truly make a big difference in the children's lives (and ours too).
Serendipitous lunches are the best.

We love OCC. We do every year. Several years ago, I wrote a short story to encourage people to get involved in OCC. If you're interested, you can read it at http://bornagainandblessed.blogspot.com/2009/11/pencil-with-purpose.html .

Happy Birthday to your husband!
Have a blessed weekend in the Lord!

We just did OCC boxes this week too and as I type I have 8 in my dining room waiting to be brought to church on Sunday and 2 other moms in my group have 3 more boxes to add to the pile. It is SUCH a blessing to get our children involved in this ministry. Happy bday to your hubby...and yeah for spontaneous lunch dates!!!!

Your week sounds wonderful, Susanne! I have been involved with Operation Christmas Child before and it is a blessing!

I love pear candles of any kind...pears are my favorite fruit.

I'm sure your hubby enjoyed that special meal you prepared for him for his birthday.

Thank you for hosting this space every week, Susanne.

Happy Birthday to your hubby!

The pot luck fellowship sounds neat. It helps for churches to have some kind of fellowship time like that, because, as you say, it's hard to get to know each other much with just a few words here and there at church.

The impromptu lunch sounds fun! And the the Christmas box ministry is wonderful!

It's a Thanksgiving miracle that I'm finally participating again today in Friday's Faves, Susanne. That is wonderful that you could make that favorite meal for your hubby. Happy Birthday to him! Sounds like you had a real good "relational" week. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

A very Happy Birthday to your dh - what did you cook for him? :)

We packed and delivered our Christmas shoeboxes this week too. Our youth group spearheads the project and they do a great job!

Glad you had the impromptu lunch and shopping date with your friend. A fun afternoon!

Hope you have a great weekend Susanne! xo
