Friday Fave Fives #255

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five, a little meme that helps us to focus on the good things that we are blessed with, the big and small that brings a smile, encourages and uplifts us through our days.  Please join us.  Guidelines are here if you are new.

1.  Sleeping in and a mellow start to a Friday.  This month I started my workday every single day at 7:30 a.m.  For a night owl, that is a tough stint.  Last Friday a parent of the early arrivers decided to keep the kids home with her.  What a difference that simple half hour made to the start of my day.  It was so much more relaxed and I savored every second in that 30 minutes.

2.  Operation Christmas Child kick off.  Last Sunday was the kick off to Operation Christmas Child at my church.  I have the privilege of heading it up and what fun it is.  To me it is not even work.  Love, love, love this ministry and my dream is to go on a distribution with them, hopefully in the next year or two.

3.   My guys all to myself.  Dinner out with my hubby and my son was a real blessing last Friday night.  We went to my favorite restaurant, I had one of my favorite meals and enjoyed the company of my two favorite guys.  Then Son left early to get to worship practice and it turned into a wonderful date night with my beloved.  Come to think of it, last Friday started great and ended great, it was pretty darn good all around.

4.  Coffee and dessert with a friend.  An evening opened up where my friend and I could get out and just have a great chat, sharing our lives and lots of laughs.  Dessert was pretty darn good too.

5.  Top Chef Online University.  My oldest girl gifted me with the Top Chef University Online Culinary Course last Christmas.  It's been fun going through the courses and though I know some of it, it's exciting to learn proper techniques and new to me ideas.  It's easily doable, most of the segments no more than 10 minutes at the most so far.   I can hardly wait to get to some of the tougher stuff that I have no idea how to cook.

Well that wraps it up for me.  It's going be a fun but busy weekend for me.  Hopefully the weather continues on it's nice trend after that snow dump last week.  I can't hardly believe it is November already!  What were your favorite blessings this week?

Wow, you had a triple favorite with #3 there. That was one great day :-)

What a fun gift idea in an online culinary course. New skills are always appreciated. Enjoy your weekend!

Yes, your Friday does sound like it was a win-win-win day. The gift from your daughter was a great one--one that you can enjoy all year. I hope you will learn lots of yummy tricks.

Sleeping in is a gift, indeed. We wake up before 5am on weekdays, so I can appreciate that. :)

The online class sounds like fun!

I love Operation Christmas Child also. The Christian high school where I teach packed 200 boxes last year; and this year we are helping two mothers of students who have a goal of 500 boxes--almost impossible humanly speaking, but we are trusting for a miracle!

What a lovely Friday - from beginning to end!

That's a very cool course - I'm looking forward to your food posts :)

It would be very exciting to go on a distribution. I'm looking forward to those posts too :) God bless you for this ministry. It fits you perfectly!

Hope you have a great weekend Susanne!

Hello Susanne! Today is my first time of participating in your Friday's Fave Five exercise. I have enjoyed reading the blessings of others on their blogs and they link back to your blog. I decided today I needed to start sharing blessings also!

I see that you are now reading Every Waking Moment and Sacred Marriage. I have read both books and they are excellent reading.

The online cooking course sounds great. I saw a familiar vehicle on the video so I am guessing Operation Christmas Child must have reached that part of the world already. Wonderful fave no. 3. What a great week you had. Your weekend sounds like it's going to be great too.

7:30 is such an early start. I'm up between 6 and 6:30 but not ready to face the world for a long while yet!

Hope the Operation Christmas Child goes well!

#3 sounds like a winner all the way around.

I hadn't heard of the chef's university - sounds interesting!

Our classroom is also doing Operation Christmas Child along with the whole Preschool. Can't go wrong with coffee, dessert and a great friend.

It's always a privilege to participate in Operation Christmas Child. Glad that you had a date night with your beloved and that you also had a time to be out with your friend for coffee and dessert.

I am an early riser. No matter if it is weekday or weekend I am up with the chickens. Some times I would love to sleep in but my internal clock just won't allow it. Ah, a nice quiet evening with just you and your guys! That is so sweet!
I love to cook but life is so busy that I look for things that are quick and easy to prepare. Someday I would live to look into those chef courses! Very cool!

Glad you had a great night with the "guys" at a good restaurant. I love it when an evening comes together well. Enjoy your weekend!

Delighted to hear you got that extra thirty minutes, I'm no early bird either so can sympathize.
Dinner with your boys sounds just the ticket and lovely evenings with friends are always to be treasured.
Have a lovely weekend.xxxx
