Hi, welcome to Friday's Fave Fives. Ready to share about some of the blessings from your week? Sometimes it's easy to find them because they are major but sometimes we need to take a pause in our everyday and just reflect back. Blessings don't have to big, earth shaking affairs, they can be small and subtle too. Join with me as we look back in the week and find those things that lifted us.
2. Delicious twists on a favorite. We tried a Cuban fusion restaurant last week. I've never had Cuban food before and though hubby stuck with a steak dinner, I tried a Cuban dish and it was delicious. Breaded chicken breast with a mango/coconut sauce. But it was the dessert that really clenched the deal for me, although it was not authentic Cuban it came with a twist. The menu said mango cheesecake but when it came it was totally not what I was expecting. What was put in front of me was one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted. A single serving size of individual cake. I am not a cake fan but this was really different and good. I think it was some kind of butter cake, the outside almost crispy and the cake tender. Topping it was a cream cheese sauce with mango. And dots of chocolate floating in strategically placed pools of the cream cheese sauce on the plate. I wish I had taken a picture. My mouth waters as I think of it. Yum!
3. Evening with friends. Our study group decided to have a movie night this last week. While the movie was just ok, we saw the Lone Ranger, the time out with friends and the coffee time afterwards was the main thing and lots of fun.
4. Energy returning. I have been fighting a lack of energy for weeks, maybe even a couple of months. For the first time in a long time I can feel some energy back in my days. I'm not dragging and just making it through the day. For that I'm so grateful. Hard to keep up with kids with no energy. Don't know what's changed but I hope it keeps up.
5. Thankful thoughts after the storm. The storm the other day was insane, the worst 15 minutes of severe weather citizens around here remember. Some thought it was a tornado, but meteorologists are calling it a microburst. As the day went on more news started to get out of all the actual damage that happened in town and on farms. Winds reaching up to 140 km/hr uprooting huge trees, roofs torn off, car windows shattered, holiday trailers overturned. Scary. Our little flooded street was nothing compared to damage in other areas of town. The favorite part of this crazy storm, was that there were no big injuries or death. So grateful for that. And it left a nice clean smell of rain. I just wish that smell would come with a little gentle summer shower and not a freak storm, Mr. Weatherman, please.
What have been your favorite blessings this week?

Wow, that storm sounds scary. I'm glad there were no injuries to speak of.
I'll have to check out that movie.
Glad you're feeling better now and have more energy.
Thanks for the movie recommendation -- there aren't many I see these days, and it's always good to know of any that are worth seeing.
I think I'd love eating out with you. You're so adventurous and I'm sure you'd share ;-)
So glad you are feeling better. I can't imagine running around after kids when you aren't feeling up to snuff!
Praying y'all get some real summer weather soon.
I'll have to look for that movie! I've never had Cuban food either and would love to try some! I'm not a cake fan but mango sauce sounds delish and perfect for summer! So thankful no one was seriously hurt in your freak storm. And yay for your energy levels returning. That has got to be hard, running a daycare, with little energy! Let's pray you get some awesome summer weather and that NY gets a break from the high humidity! :) Enjoy your weekend!
What a storm - you folks out west are certainly getting more than your share of dramatic weather this year! Glad no one was hurt. Here on the East coast it's been steamy hot. We're not used to it but we never like to complain about summer unless it's raining non-stop :)
That movie sound interesting - I'm going to look around for it.
And that cake?? swoon! Did you ever think of being a food writer? You do great descriptions. Too good in fact!!! :)
I wonder what's been causing the energy lack? Have you had your blood checked lately? Glad you're starting to feel some better.
Hope you have a restful weekend!

There's LOTS of Cuban food here in South Florida, but since my hubby is not adventurous, I don't seem to strike out either. I'll have to grab one of my sweet Cuban friends and get brave!
I saw the pictures of that storm. Crazy. Glad to hear you weathered it. May all the rest of your summer rains be gentle ones!
All good....
Thanks for the Movie rec.
I'll look for it at the theater.
Mama Bear
I had seen that movie on Netflix and wondered about it - thanks for the recommendation! I'll have to suggest it for the next family/movie night.
What a crazy storm - glad no one was injured in it.
I don't think I have ever tried Cuban food. One sandwich at a sandwich shop we used to go to was called a Cuban, but I don't know why - I doubt it was authentically Cuban.
I'm glad your energy is returning! It's hard to watch kids with no energy!
I think I may have seen that movie on Netflix. I love a good, clean movie.
That dessert sounds yummy! I've never had any kind of other foods. I went to Honduras for a mission trip once, but we didn't eat anywhere authentic. That dessert sounds yuuummy! I love cheesecake!
That is crazy about the storm or microburst. I have never heard of that. I am glad there were no injuries though!
Oh goodness....that micro burst sound terrifying! I'm glad to hear there was no damage, I'm also pleased to hear that your energy is returning!
I may give Cuban food a try now....xxxx
It is wonderful to just have time to talk and be with friends from a study group. No agenda!!!
This last week our study group had a game night. Well, it turned into a talk night, but that was good too.
Too bad The Lone Ranger wasn't that good. I had toyed with going. Maybe I will look up Unconditional instead.
Have a safe week, Susanne.
when I lived in NH a few years ago we had quite a few microbursts. One of them was accompanied with major huge hail which did lots and lots of damage. No fun! I'm glad your energy is returning.
I'm so glad the storm didn't bring you any major injuries or deaths in your area! Storms seem to be frightening nowadays ...
The Cuban food sounds delish! Whenever I go back home to Florida I always love to get Cuban sandwiches and also love Cuban-style black beans and rice. Yum!
Glad you are getting energy back. I struggle a lot with that issue as well.
I haven't heard of the movie you mentioned. I wonder if Netflix carries it?
Boy, you all have had more than your share of stormy weather this summer! I hope it lets up for you soon.
Haven't tried Cuban food, but that cake sounds like it's to die for!
