Friday's Fave Five #231

Welcome to another Friday and another opportunity to take a look at the blessings that come to us in our weeks.

1.  A getaway on the long weekend.  Getting out of town, hitting the road to see our Oldest Daughter was  a well needed refresher.  Even though it's a long way to go with a major part of 2 of the 3 days spent on the road, it's time away and time with hubby and time with our daughter we just never get to see enough.

2.  Getting home safely from aforementioned road trip.  As beautiful as the drive was there, it was that much s.c.a.r.y. on the way home.  More of a description here, but suffice it to say I'm considering a good color to cover the gray hair I obtained during that drive home.  Praise God for safety all the way home!

3.  Bbq ribs.  Need I say more?  Out to dinner at Tony Roma's on our weekend away, it was our Valentine's date.  I had the Baby Back ribs with half Red Hot BBQ sauce and half Carolina Honeys Sauce.  Oh my goodness, it was the best ribs I've had in a long time.

4.  Shoes.  I really needed a pair of low heels to wear with my dress pants.  Not that I wear really high heels, but the ones I had were killing my knee since I injured the MCL and my black flat shoes were just too casual.  But I really hated to spend a bunch of money.  While away on the weekend, we went to a Winner's store and lo and behold I found a pair of very comfortable but still a little dressy Rockport shoes with a small heel I can handle right now for $24.  Steal of a deal.  I was thrilled.

5.  My own bed.  While I love getting away, there is nothing like getting back to my own bed,  my own blanket, my own room.  I change my sheets just before we leave to go away and when we come back and it's always a big "Aaaaaah" when I get back in my own bed.

What have been your favorites from the week?  Did you have some big, obvious blessings or were yours more subtle?   If you do a post for FFF please feel free to link on up!  If you're new, guidelines are linked in the sidebar.  Have a great weekend, everyone!

Yes, there's no place like home and your own bed. I read your account of driving through the ice and snow--oh my. I am so thankful you arrived home safely. Even with the harrowing drive home, I'm sure the trip to see your girl was worth it.

I love to travel but not under these conditions as you experienced on your way back ! what a nightmare we once had this on Christmas going to our son in Amsterdam ! Thought I would never arrive ! I sleep everywhere on everything, so I don't mind about my bed, lol !

Definitely a fave -- arriving home safely after wonderful time with your eldest. Throw in some ribs and comfy shoes and it rounds out your week nicely!

I can identify with the joy of travel and the joy of returning home! There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed, is there?

Oh, and ribs! Yum!

I love to travel too but there really isn't anything like your very own bed...and fresh sheets to sink into (I do the same thing with the sheets!!! :) ) Those ribs sounds delish....my youngest would especially love the hot sauce and I'd love that honey one....YUM! You mentioned on my post about looking for a dvd cabinet. Check night stands!! The one I pictured in my FFF was only $188 and it's real wood!! It was part of a bedroom set but the store worker said each piece could be sold separately. Good luck!! I waited YEARS before finding just what to hold our collection in (of course the girls have TONS of disney ones down in the basement in a Plastic bin! LOL) Have a good weekend Susanne!!

I'm glad you got to visit your girl and got home safely. There's nothing like one's own bed, blanket, room...and bathroom. :-)

I lurve BBQ ribs. I never make them myself, but I order them often when eating out.

Sometimes it is very hard to find just the right shoes at a decent price. Glad you did!

How nice that you had a weekend away! Getting a new pair of shoes I'm sure made it even better.

As you know, I've written before of my love for my bed, so I know how you feel about yours. What a good idea to change sheets right before you leave so that it is fresh and comfy for you when you get back!

You had a wonderful week didn't you? So glad you guys are home safely, but enjoyed your trip!

We are ordering ribs tonight when our friends come over. Dreamland has the best!

I need some new heels, but have not found what I am looking for. I don't want the thin high heels. I like a thicker heel and a closed toe.

I loooove our bed. It is a full size,it is small, but it is comfy. :) Have a great weekend!

Yay! What a shoe bargain, and I'm so glad you got to see your girl and got home safely.

Every night when I climb into bed I think about how much I love our bed. So comfy! Such a blessing.

So glad you had a wonderful time with your girl - and arrived home safely. I read about your other post - that's not fun!

I made ribs for the first time this week. I think I overcooked them although they were still good.

Good buy on the shoes at Winners - I need a new pair too. I'll go have a look there.

Hope you have a great weekend Susanne! Thanks again for hosting FFF.

Just read about your trip home and it sounds treacherous to say the least. Sure you didn't put a shot of something in that Starbucks?;)

Shoe shopping is not one of my favorite things to do. I would be delighted to find a comfortable pair and for a deal at that!
