Simple Woman's Daybook Sept. 10/12

It's been awhile but I'm joining in at The Simple Woman's Daybook today.  It's a nice way to keep track of what's going on in life as it swirls around us.

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...Sunshine with a bit of haze.  It's been very fallish weather:  cold overnight and hot in the day.

I am thinking... it will be so nice when the kitchen reno's are done!

I am thankful... so much to be thankful for right now.  But I'll say a good start to my daughter's university this last week, my Mom being okay now after an emergency scare, and the grace that got me through 2 weeks of dayhoming with my house being upside down during reno's and the grace to get us through this last week of it.

In the kitchen... simple meals as it's in upheaval yet this week.  Cabbage rolls from the freezer, hot dogs, maybe chili if I can find the pot.  :v)

I am creating... an new plan for the organization of the kitchen cupboards

I am going... to the gym (Curves) at 3 times a week now

I am wondering... if the beautiful place I went ziplining only 2 weeks ago is on fire.  Peachland, B.C. is experiencing a huge forest fire with about 1500 people evacuated and 4 houses gone.  It breaks my heart for them.

I am reading... James chapter 1.  Good stuff, convicting stuff, encouraging stuff.  "The Secret Life of Bees"

I am hoping... I have a kitchen sink by tomorrow night.  Paper plates and plastic cutlery is getting old.  I long to eat on real plates using real silverware.

I am looking forward to... the kitchen being all packed back and organized.  Anyone know of any organizing/packing back fairies that are available?

I am learning.. to go with the flow.  No choice when the house is in upheaval.

Around the house... a mess

I am pondering... on James 1.  see above.

A favorite quote for today...
"The sting shot pain all the way to my elbow, causing me to marvel at how much punishment a minuscule creature can inflict.  I'm prideful enough to say I didn't complain.  After you get stung, you can't get unstung no matter how much you whine about it.  I just dived back into the riptide..."
"The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd   pg. 167
Hmmm, sounds like some kind of life lesson in there somewhere.

One of my favorite things... grilled steak with plenty of bbq sauce.  Yummy.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  cleaning & reloading the kitchen, cleaning the basement, gym time, reading time

A peek into my day:

Where I wanna be

My reality
At least for a couple more days

We did a kitchen re-do a number of years ago, and I still remember the upheaval. Having the epicenter of the house non-functioning was so hard! How exciting that you are almost done, and how nice to have a brand new kitchen!

I loved The Secret Life of Bees. What a great quote to pull from it.

I'm getting the idea there's a lot of grace these days. :)

Good for you for getting to Curves 3x a week. Nice!

Soon, Susanne. Very soon, you will be sighing and resting in the after-grace of these chaotic (and grace-filled) days.
