oh boy...well, i do like the quote but our true happiness really comes from knowing who we are in Christ and from the love of Jesus. I mean, that's what I personally believe. However, our thought life is powerful!! Which is why we need to be careful what we fill our mind with. I think we can have true, inner JOY (different from happiness) when we are living fully in Him yet the things that we think on, do have influence over our happiness or unhappiness....like I can be struggling with an emotional issue that brings me "down" yet have inner joy...but if I let my thots turn dark, i can slump into depression.....hard to explain my thots on this but.....I hope you know what I mean!! I also believe that our contentment level affects our happiness level.
Happiness can be fleeting but joy is another thing. Our thoughts are powerful for sure and it reminds me of verses like Romans 12:1-2 "transformed by the renewing of your mind" or Php 4:8 "...whatever is true..." If you read the verses before 8 it's prayer and thanksgiving that will guard your heart and minds in Christ Jesus. I think maybe Peace is what we end up with when we put all of this into practice, which is deeper than happiness. I love being around happy people, though!! OK you are hearing way more than you wanted from me on this subject but...You have some people that are happy because they don't think at all LOL! Hope you are ok with my thoughts just rolling along here in this comment...
