About the
Author:
Bindi
Sue Irwin is only 14 years old and is already an international award-winning
celebrity. Born to wildlife conservationists Steve and Terri Irwin, Bindi was
just 3 years old when she made her television debut on The Crocodile
Hunter. She and her brother Robert continue their dad's legacy at Australia
Zoo in Queensland.
About the
Series:
A unique blend of action, travel,
and global conservation, the Bindi Wildlife Adventures series will charm and
engage new readers as well as encourage budding young naturalists. Each book is
a new adventure for Wildlife Warrior Bindi Irwin and a chance for children to
experience new places and new ideas and to learn more about how to help animals
all over the world.
My Thoughts:
I received the above copy, Croc Capers, #7 in the series. Bindi and her brother Robert are helping her mom, Terri and a team of Croc experts capture, tag and rerelease crocodiles in the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve when they run across another campsite. Upon finding that these campers might be up to something suspicious Bindi makes it her goal to stop what may be going on.
I found this a cute story that also taught about the animal world. Animal and conservation facts were woven into the story in a very natural manner. There is a section in the back that goes into more detail about the specific animals mentioned in the story. More about each book and an activity guide are here. This book would be enjoyed by kids 7 and up to probably about 10 who like adventure, naturalist or animal stories.
Sourcebooks, Inc. has graciously offered to give a set of these adventure stories, that's 7 books of the Bindi Wildlife Adventure series, to one of my readers. If you know of a young person,or maybe even an elementary teacher, who would love this set please leave a comment. Make sure there is a way to get ahold of you, either a website link or email address, and I will draw for the winner on Monday, August 13.
