Friday's Fave Five #38

Welcome everyone! It Friday's Fave Five time again. I'm really looking forward to reading all your favorites. If you're new and want to know what it's about and what to do you can just jump over here and then join right in!

1. Scoring Great Deals on Books. We all know my love of books but my oldest also loves to read. As a kid she read the kid's version of the Left Behind Series and really enjoyed it, so I started to collect the adult version for her. But I haven't been buying them at the book stores, I've made my purchases at the library. Last week I picked up two more towards the set:

Notice how they look brand new! And hardcover to boot. Now take a look at the price on the back of them had I have purchased them in the book store.

Now look at the price I paid for them in the little used book purchase corner of my library.
So far I have half the set for her and I've paid a total of $18. And the books are all in great to excellent condition. The only thing is I have to keep going back and checking the shelves. I keep a running list in my purse of which ones I already have and check everytime I'm in the library. Good thing it's a place I love to go anyway. And hey for that kind of price, I'm even known to go a little out of my way!

2. Allrecipes.com daily dish. One of the recipe sites that I use the most often. After a couple years I finally registered with them to take advantage of storing my favorite recipes on their server rather than use up my harddrive storing all of them. And now I'm wondering what on earth took me so long to do this. I check marked the little box for them to send me a recipe page a day and I'm totally loving this litte feature. In my email each moring comes a page linking to about 4 different recipes from the sight, all with high ratings, usually following a theme. I don't even have to search if I don't want to for what to put on my menu plan if I'm making one or what's for supper that night. Love this feature.

3. This awesome webpage. I absolutely love this. Follow the instructions they give. How incredible and creative this is. Thanks to Angela Hunt's A Life in Pages for linking to this.

4. Looking back through photo albums of my kids when they were smaller. What a pleasant way to spend an hour or two. I've always loved every stage of their growth but have always wished I could be granted just one day a year where I could re-live them from when they were little. Just to keep it fresh in mind. Photos are the next best thing.

5. Birds singing. I've so been looking forward to hearing the birds singing through out the day and it's finally starting to happen. Their sweet voices can be heard throughout the day coming from my neighbors big pine trees. I'm sure there's got to be a couple nests in there somewhere. But when they start their song it just lifts my heart.

Love getting good deals on books!! What a great way to accumulate a collection!

I've arrived at allrecipes.com a time or two when searching for something but I haven't explored the site much. Looks like I need to!

That web site is amazing! Could spend hours there!

I know what you mean about kids; pictures. Though I love the young men they're becoming, sometimes I really miss the little people they were and wish I could hold them as little toddlers once again.

Well you know that I always love a bargain! It is so sweet to hear the birds singing. Lot nicer than the crows cawing :0) I can sit for hours looking through photo albums. Enjoy your weekend Susanne!!

I love the Left Behind series! Unbelievable, I know, but I've read the entire series 3 times. I'm collecting the set, too, but so far I've only gotten 6 of them.

I truly love photo albums of my kids, too. I try to scrapbook but just don't have enough time. I'm glad I have my photo albums, though. I wish I would have had a digital camera when my girls were little. I'd probably have enough albums to fill an entire room!

So many blessings! I can't believe the deals you're getting on those books! I collected them, as well, at reduced prices - but only got ONE at that price!

Thanks to the link to Angela Hunt - she is one of my favorite authors.

I also love looking at old photos and remembering 'times gone by'. You are right, it is a way to relive those times.

I got to be on the other end of the book deals this week. I sold some used books and gave others a good bargain. (And it cleaned off my shelves a little!)

Blessings,
Lisa

Another great list Susanne. I've found some great bargains at our little library too. You're right - the trick is to check often!
I must check out that recipe site - sounds great.
I think it would be wonderful to go back in time for a little bit too. You think you will never forget the way it was when your children were little, but it's sometimes hard to remember all the details. Pictures are the next best thing.
Have a wonderful weekend Susanne.

I absolutely love this list, Susanne! Let me just say that I cannot believe the store prices on those books! Wow. That is higher than here. Congrats on the excellent buys. Our library does the same thing, but I've never seen the Left Behind series there. I'd love to own it and reread it again.

That's a great idea about the recipes.

I will check out that link you gave, and you already know I am crazy about pictures and photo albums.
