30 x 5 Week One Wrap Up

Book giveaway here.

Today is the one week point of the 30 x 5 challenge. If you're as yet unfamiliar with it, Linda from 2nd Cup of Coffee has challenged us to get moving 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days of the week for 2 weeks. Small steps to make movment part of our lives.

So how have I done? Well. It started off slow. Before I knew it Thursday and Friday had come and gone and I hadn't done anything. Unless you counted very fast walking and shopping and lugging packages through the big mall. So that meant I had to make sure the next five days incorporated exercising for sure. Yes, I tend to work better under pressure. So my exercise of choice to get me going was brisk walking. I needed to get out and get fresh air.

I'm pleased to say that I did get out there and hoof it for half an hour for four days in row. It's still cool here so it was actually very refreshing and I really enjoyed getting out there. Yesterday, however, I totally couldn't work it in. So yes, Linda, I have to count the mall walking to make my five days. :v)

This is a great challenge for me. In my head, there is accountability, because I've put it out here that I'm doing it. It's been fun, so far, and because I've picked walking outside, which is naturally something that I would gravitate to anyway once the weather starts getting nice around here, putting my name on the challenge has been the motivation that has got me out the door after dinner rather than sitting down on the couch on the days when that inclination just isn't there. No weight loss, but I'm already feeling better and more inclined to choose getting out there rather than hiding away in the house. Hopefully, I can keep this going past the weeks.

nothing wrong with counting mall walking...hey....it can be quite the challenge around our city, what with dodging all the teens and college kids who crowd the hallways :)
happy walking...it's nice enough here today to wear shorts while I power walk!! finally!

just keep walkin', walkin', walkin', like Dory on Nemo...she just kept swimmin' and they accomplished...
you will, too!

malls are like obstacle course all on their own...and you definitely cover major ground when you go to one.

keep it up:)

I started off with a bang, and have rounded out the week with a whimper. Oh, well. There is always this week, which just happens to be Spring Break and my kids will be home which means NO FREE TIME! Why did I sign up for this again?

I need that kind of challenge, seriously. We need to start moving around here... Come on sunshine! I need you to help me WANT to be outside! (At least we're dancing a few times a week. That has to count for something, even if our heart rates aren't getting up to where we need them to be.)
