I've been seeing this simple little beginning of the week journal going around blogland and have really enjoyed reading them. And this week I thought I'd join in. If you'd like to read more or join in visit The Simple Woman.
For Today:
Outside my window: A bright sunny morning with no air movement at all. People taking their dogs for their morning walk.
I am thinking: I better turn the air conditioner on early today. It's going to be a really hot day. I'm also thinking I wish I not stayed up and watched Olympic volleyball until midnight because now I'm sleepy! And I'm also thinking I better get the microwave to Kay's moving pile so we don't forget it. Yes, my mind, it's going full speed already.
I am thankful for: friends that Kay already has in the city she's moving to. At least I know she won't be alone right off the bat. And I'm thankful for a lovely weekend spent with family.
From the kitchen: zucchini muffins with cheese and blueberries for breakfast
I am wearing: cream colored shorts with a sky blue tshirt. Will definitely be putting on a tank top later this morning as it gets hotter!
I am reading: "The Canopy" by Angela Hunt and "Love as a Way of Life" by Gary Chapman. The links are in the sidebar.
I am hoping: Everything that Kay needs and wants to take with her will fit in the two vans we are taking to move her.
I am hearing: the early morning traffic of people trying to get to work.
I am creating: a mess as we unload Kay's bedroom and try to sort through and pack up
Around the house: laundry to be done and packed up, packed boxes to be put in the garage, empty boxes waiting to be packed.
One of my favorite things: the cool smell of a summer morning before it gets too hot.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Plan a family bbq for Kay on Sunday so she can say goodbye to family, finish helping her pack. (Do you see a main theme running here? :vD), grocery shopping, more Olympic watching.
*Updated (because I just found out) to add an outing with my youngest to see our Singing Waiter (ff through the silly Hair Product commercial) who will be playing a short concert at our fair and another in his home town. Whoo hoo, he's singing for a top 4 spot tonight. Getting my dialing fingers ready!!
A picture thought I'm sharing with you:
The reality of her moving away for school, well, it's setting in. I can't believe it will be upon me in a short week. This is going to be a rough 7 days.

I read "The Canopy" by Angela Hunt too. I love her writing, but this was not one of my favorites.
Ahh Susanne, I so remember the racing mind getting my first ready to move to college 1200 miles away. I'll be praying for your mind and heart to be able to be at peace as you go through these next few weeks. blessings...
I've been doing this one for just a few weeks -- glad you joined in!
Zucchini muffins sound wonderful!
Looks like a busy and emotional week for you...
Aw Susanne ,Good luck with your moving,I hope that she's not moving too far? All the best to Kay ( and her mum and dad
I know it is hard when the leave home! My son is in Japan, and it is SO FAR!! :)
I'm so glad you joined in on this..it helps me get through the week. Enjoy this week....it will be long and you will probably shed a few tears...but they will be good tears...I will keep you in prayer this week....hugs.
Oh, you are so busy. And this must be such a hard time, with Kay getting ready to fly the nest....
In other words, your breakfast sounds yummy. I have banana muffins baking right now!
Praying you through these days and the days that follow (getting used to that empty spot she leaves).
She'll be fine - great, in fact.
So will you. ;-)
Wow look how organized you are! Okay so I have to ask is that zucchini muffins with cheese and blueberries in the muffins or on the side?
Hang in there this week and love up that girl of yours as much as you can get away with :)
Glad you could finally join in on the Simple Womans Daybook! It has been fun getting to "know" others. Both our sons have gronw and gone off to school and then off to get married and the oldest and his wife are now expecting their second! It hurts when the first leave, but keep praying for them, they do come back with more! :)
Father please hold this mom's heart tight as see prepares to let her little one fly. *hugs*
Oh Susanne, my heart breaks for you, I can't even imagine when it's my turn to watch my kids leave for school.
So glad you're joining in the daybook, it's fun isn't it?
Our middle daughter just went to Texas (a very, very long way away!) to go to school. She flew there this past Friday. We miss her! I hope all goes well for your daughter and her move - and for you, too.
~Susan

and I am praying for you re your daughter moving away to school

We just moved our youngest back to school for her Sophmore year. We realized that this was probably her last summer home. hmmm, God's grace is sufficient. Between trying to focus on God and reminding myself that He has a plan for her life and she MUST leave home to find the path---well it makes it better. It's not even the distance our kids go from us, just the passing of what was. We really enjoyed being back to the two of us last year. Love just looks different each day now, but it's still evident---thank God for unlimited text messaging. :) Blessings of His strength!
Beautifully done Susanne.
I know this is a difficult time. Why must things change? Noone asked me, but I think we should have the option of just freezing things the way they are whenever we feel like it - just for a little while anyway.
Praying all goes well.
Oh my. My daughter decided to wait a year. Hugs to you my friend.
Oh I just adore zucchini muffins!
Enjoy your week of packing with Kay and have a blast at the bbq.
It's tough - I can remember the feeling of my heart wrenching when I left my oldest on the college campus.I'm praying for peace.
It does get better - I promise - wait til you hear all the wonderful adventures via phone and email.
How fun to read, Susanne...and your daughter is going away for school this fall...although I know that time is coming for me, too and, I know she will be ready, I still have a slight heartache thinking about it.
Hugs sent your way!
And yet, even your piles of stuff look clean and organized!
I can't even imagine one of my babies moving out!!! But yet it is a wonderful thing too. How exciting for her to start school.
I am praying for you... that God gives you peace and joy and that your girl is blessed and than blessed some more at her school:)!
I enjoy these Simple Woman Daybooks. I've done a couple and will try to remember to do one next week. I guess your mind will be otherwise occupied then, huh? I bet your mind is going a mile a minute.
I'm off to watch the video of your singing waiter.
I'll be thinking about you and your family, Susanne. :0)
He's really good. The top 5 have really cool names, too.
I remember walking by our daughter's car, parked under the carport and her stuffed Snoopy that she'd had since she was 4 was sitting next to the driver's spot. Ripped my heart right out and made it very real that she was really leaving in a day or so. My heart goes out to you, it'll be okay but the first month is still tough.
That last pic says it all; may the Lord grant you strength and joy (however bittersweet)!
