Monday Mish Mash & Menu Plan

Whew, finally I have a chance to get on here and post a little something. The day has just got away from me. I hope all my friends from the States had a wonderful 4th of July. It was a normal workday for me. And believe it or not, just like July 1st, our Canada Day holiday, we had a rip snorting thunderstorm. Just call our fair city an equal opportunity storm center. This time we did not get a whole lot of rain, but boy, did we get the lightning and thunder. We had three thunder storms that day. The morning one was right over top of us and black and nasty. It was so dark inside we had to turn on all the lights. When the lightning came the thunder accompanying it was almost simultaneous and so loud it rattled the windows. A bit unnerving for some of the kiddos.

Sunday found hubby and I on our own so we went for lunch at my favorite restaurant. What a nice time to just spend together and as usual the service there was great and the food awesome! It's the same restaurant that our "singing waiter" hailed from. Speaking of which, better set the PVR so I don't miss Canadian Idol tonight. My heart goes out to you guys below the border who are in AI withdrawl. I don't know how you make it through the summer! :vD Anyway, after lunch we took our furry four footed family member for a walk by the river. It was absolutely beautiful. Warm, not windy, not many bugs. The birds were chirping and it was lovely. But alas, I forgot the camera. Darn. There were some nice shots I could have got, too!

So here it is Monday and the Menu plan. There won't be any guarantees that I can follow this exactly but we'll see what happens this week.

Monday: dill potatoes, jerk sausages, broccoli mix
Tuesday: ceasar chicken wraps, fresh sliced tomatoes
Wednesday: grilled cheese burgers, salad
Thursday: inside out raviolli, mixed veggies
Friday: leftovers
Saturday: crockpot bbq ribs, mashed potatoes & caramelized onions, cooked carrots
Sunday: Grilled three herb steak, grilled fan potatoes, mixed bean salad, roasted asparagus

Nice job.

Hmm...I bet that inside out ravioli would go over well in this house.

Sorry you keep getting the thunderstorms. I didn't even think about you being in the middle of storms with all the little ones. When we have thunder, Logan always looks at me as if to say, "Is everything okay?" with every rumble.

Sounds delish! I'd love your recipes for bbq ribs, three herb steak and dill potatoes!

I loved the BBQ ribs one. I think I will use that myself sometime.

I can just imagine how lovely your sunday was. I saw your singing waiter tonight in the wrapup as it was a fighting battle literally with you know who and treehouse t.v. ;-(

We had kind of a low key weekend and I'm trying to regroup after being gone. Think I'm going to do grilled chicken wraps this week, and hope I still have gas in the grill!
Finally got some rain here, with some really loud thunder/lightening right over the house...the kind that shakes everything. I could do without it! But at least I don't have to run the sprinkler for a bit.

those impromptu dates are always great. Summer tv is so boring, it's nice you have Idol up there. We had lightning and thunder Wednesday last week.
Hope your week is going well...

I don't mind a little storm now and then, but those that shake the windows, I'll pass. I'm glad you and the husband were able to spend some time alone. Jorge and I need to, too.

I can feel your excitement over Canadian Idol, Susanne! :D Too cool that your favorite restaurant is where the singing waiter is from!

Although I've never gotten into AI, I just recently have gotten hooked on both "The Next Food Network Star" and "Designer Star"...I'm telling ya', they are almost more intense than Survivor when I use to watch that...and some of those judges on both shows are so intimidating...yikes! (Especially Food Network!)

OK...'nuf rambling...
Your afternoon with hubby sounds so nice! :)
(Especially after all those thunderstorms!)

"Rip snorting???"

That is SOOOO my new phrase. I'm stealing it, because it is so rip snorting good.

Thank you.

Yum, that ravioli sounds good.

I'm sorry about the thunderstorms but if it makes you feel any better, we had a HUGE one here on the 4th of July LOL The fireworks were even cancelled.

Great menu Susanne :)

Our holiday was fantastic, thankyouverymuch. I'd say I'm sorry about the thunder and lightning, but those are some of my favorite times to listen to God's nature!
