Monday Mish Mash and Meal Plan

Monday already. I can't believe how fast the weekend went. It seemed I blinked my eyes and it was over. The passage of time seems to be going so, so fast lately. I don't know if it's because I'm looking at my oldest leaving home for school pretty soon, or that I feel so busy nowadays, or if it's just because I'm just getting, gulp, older.

Anyway, it was lovely here. Sunny and warm all day Saturday. I was busy with all the usual weekend housecleaning, getting hair cuts for the kids but not before I had a glorious Saturday morning spent in my jammies with coffee cup in hand, reading a book. I'm all of a sudden having to urge to read alot again after a couple months of just sort of barely plugging along with my Spring Reading List. Now I can't seem to put the books down and have to force myself to put them away and do what I'm supposed to in the day. But the evenings? Oh the evenings are all about the reading.

Sunday found the weather change yet again with the clouds rolling in and rain is forecast for most of next week. Again. So I think a few crockpot meals are going to be happening this week. Hubby is going to be working a shift I can't ever recall him working. Noon to 9 p.m. This should make it very interesting with the meal planning department. I know he'll love leftovers the next day. Because he'll still be rising early with plans of catching up on some chores around the house that have been hard to get to for awhile, he'll be eating a good, hearty breakfast. And good leftovers fit that bill. Especially when it's sandwiches he'll be eating for supper. And being that he's a guy, he'll probably be losing weight what with eating the bigger meal earlier in the day and then doing some physical work in the mornings. Hrmmph. I might have to drag out the old eliptical for myself.

So, here's the Meal Plan so far. I reserve to right to change it up just in case this is not working. This is certainly going to be a learning experience for me.

Monday: Rainbow cheese tortellini with alfredo sauce, honeyed carrots

Tuesday: soft tacos

Wednesday: almond chicken, buttery sauteed rice, baby veggies

Thursday: Jeremy's Fave chili, buns, salad

Friday: Homemade mac and cheese, mixed veggies

Saturday: Smokey slow cooker ribs, baked potatoes, corn

Sunday: crockpot pork tenderloin with mushroom soup gravy, whipped potatoes, brocolli mix

Time does seem to fly as the kids grow. Thank you for the prayers as we recover from severe weather. Blessings

That's a weird shift, Susanne. I'd have a terrible time working around that one. Of course, now that Rob's working a normal 7 to 3:30 shift, that seems weird to me too. LOL

Thank goodness our guys like leftovers!

I wanna live at your house this week!
These dinners sound delicious.
This is my week to "fly by the seat of my pants". I won't know until each day because we have SO much going on between church, school (both) and the camper.....I'll be posting about THAT soon.

Thanks for your sweet comment on my wedding post, Susanne...

And yum, I want to come over and eat dinner all week at your house! ;)
OK...what's with our identical weather anyway? I suppose it is the same basic weather system that we both get...but every time you report MY weather, it makes me think the world isn't that big after all! :)

We had that sort of weekend too. Nothing got done, save for the stuff I WANTED to do.

Have you tried Barb's BBQ Brisket recipe yet? It's delish!

Yum, your menu sounds great! Almond chicken, yummy, and I bet those ribs are to-die-for :)

I know what you mean about time going faster the older we get. I stop and think, good grief, I am *middle-aged* now, when most days, I feel like I'm 20 years younger :)

Have a wonderful day!

I love to read at night too, and even if it's late and I should go straight to bed I feel like I have to read at least a bit! It's hot here and I've tried to use the grill some this week instead of the oven, need to remember the crockpot too.
