Unless you don't live in the States or Canada, have cable tv or are fasting television, you probably knew that American Idol had their Idol Gives Back night last night where with the use of many famous idividuals they raise money for various charities in the U.S. and Africa. It's a very touching evening. Of course the big grande finale song is with the remaining contestants. Pick my jaw up off the floor as out of all the heart-tugging songs in the history of the world about compassion or giving, this is the song the producers chose to do:

Brought tears to my eyes. I thought is was lovely and the Lord got lifted at the end of a very popular, watched show. First thing hubby said when I showed him was "They're trying to raise money and will use what they can." I thought maybe one of the producers must be a believer because that is a full out worship song and they took a risk that might cause them some fall out.

Anyway, I thought it was a beautiful end to a night of being asked to step outside ourselves and care about others, that they would end it with a song that glorifies the Lord, the One who cares for people most of all.

I didn't see it either but I enjoyed watching the video. Wow I'm surprised too that they picked that song on mainstream TV. Good for them. It's one of my favorites, I love to just belt it out :)

Wow, Susanne, I am so glad that you posted that. I had the recorder set, but severe storms were in our area. I knew that as we headed to church, the cable would probably be knocked out, and that I would miss it.

The TV lasted until the end of Bono, so I had no idea what else I missed.

For whatever reason they chose this song, I am still glad that they did it, and did it very well. I pray the Lord was glorified. I am SHOCKED, though, that they did this song.

Just as we pulled into church, they had blown the tornado sirens. Everyone was gathered in the hallway, just as we did last year.

Thankfully, we were all safe, and our home was safe, but it was an "all-nighter" with heavy, heavy rain and storms. We will be seeing more of the flooding of our river, creeks, and streams with them releasing water from upstream in the days to come.

I didn't watch much of it last night, but Emelia was watching and kept running in to tell me who was singing etc. I love that song!

I watched bits and pieces of the show last night but switched to something else at the end. I'm sorry I missed it. I'm surprised that this was on national TV. Thanks for posting this.

I tivo'd it but noticed today that it cut off before the finale! So I'm glad you posted this....I'm shocked they used that song too, I love it. I also noticed that they changed the beginning and didn't use the name Jesus in the first line. But still cool they used that song!

I enjoyed every single minute of that show last night and although I didn't phone in a cash donation, it did inspire me to come in here and sign up to sponsor a child in Kenya, through Compassion.

The closing song was amazing - I totally agree with you that the producer of that show is a Christian. How very refreshing that is.
