I'm back, sort of.

Well, hello. It's seems forever and a day since I've been on here. I thought I'd just do a little catch up so you all know I'm still here. Things have been busy here with me in the recuperating mode. After Monday's surgery, which the doctor said went well, I was already back to see him on Thursday for the post op check. I got to see the incision and stitches and he showed me the two little tiny screws he put in my hand bone on xrays. If you're squemish close your eyes and scroll down just a touch.

After this he sent me to see the orthopedist to get a custom made cast. Take note: another word for physio/ortho is torture chamber. If I'd have known the sweet young thing who introduced herself as Leena was really a trained expert in giving pain I'd have made sure I took a few or ten tylenol 3's before I went. Youch just doesn't seem like a strong enough word to convey the "fun" time she showed me. But for all that, she let me pick my cast color. I, of course, chose red to co-ordinate with my favorite purse. My honey suggested going with blah beige but after all that I figured I needed something bright and cheery and flashy. The older ladies who happened to be in there with their mom totally agreed after watching my torture therapy session. So now I take this thing off every two hours to do exercises and I think it's been going really well. I have way more range of motion now than last Thursday. Now I have to be very careful to wear the cast at all times, except exercise time, and not pull or push or lift anything for 4 - 6 weeks.

So that is where it stands so far in the hand department. I've had some extremely painful shoulder issues due to all the drugs run rampant in my system and all the extra work my one side is all of a sudden being called upon to perform, but other than that, I'm glad to be back doing a post even though it took me two days to do it. Maybe I can even start leaving a few comments here and there although this one handed typing leaves a lot to be desired in the speed department.

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. They were more encouraging than you will ever know, especially after this last weekend.

My word, Susanne. You really did a number on your poor hand. But it sounds like the worst is over and you're in full recovery mode now.

Pretty cast! LOL

Not to worry. Some of us out here aren't reading and commenting much lately, in spite of having two perfectly good hands. So you're good. At least you have a good excuse.

As frustrating as it must be for you, it's awfully good to hear from you again. Take good care of yourself. xoxo

You poor thing, but snazzy cast! Yes, far too much beige and muted colours around these days ;)

Praying for quick healing.

I applaud your color choice Susanne- it's very cheerful (and it sounds as though you needed cheering up just then). I'm sorry it has been so painful, but glad to hear you are improving. Praying it will all heal very quickly and well.

Oooh, I'm twitching after looking at that! I'm so sorry you've had to go through all this, I just can't imagine how hard it must be on you. I've had friends tell me the same thing about therapists, trained torturers they are! Like the cast...hope you continue to heal with a minimum of pain from here on out.

Susanne how I've missed you so but that hands seriously looks painful. I'm feeling for you, yikes!! I'm loving the whole match your cast to your purse concept, I mean you are right, if you are going to be in pain you might as well look good doing it :)

Take it easy!

Susanne, I'd say we're tickled you can type at all, save it for doing posts to let us know how youre doing, and skip comments til youre better - we know you're out there reading, and that hand doesnt look too typing-friendly to me!
