WFMW ~ Backwards Edition 2

The last WFMW backwards edition worked so well that Shannon is doing it again! So think of all those things in your life that present a quandry and ask away. You might get some really great ideas to solve your dilemma. Don't forget to add it to Mr. Linky at Rocks in My Dryer so people can come around and find you and your question.
So I need ideas for a 13 year old girls sleepover birthday party. Must be inexpensive! And fun! C'mon ladies. I'm counting on you!

I don't have teenagers yet, but my sister did a sleep over with her daughter, and they did a Chinese themed sleep over. They ordered Chinese take out, and made decorations like Chinese lanterns, and ate on the floor. They did pedicures and manicures. So that is an idea that hopefully will get you brain storming.

Scavenger hunts. You split into two groups, give both groups and identical list and head out on the town for say an hour or so to find the items on the list. Tons of fun. Of course you'll need a few ways to get transportation, and a few cameras.

How about a spa birthday at home, pedicures, facials that sort of thing. They could make their own bath salts (or other pamper product) to bring home with them.

Can't wait to see what you decide to do.

OK, all of these last ideas in the replies are great! Since my oldest is only 8, I'm not there yet...but will be soon...so I'm gleaning these ideas right with ya'!
And then there's always the High School Musical thing...LOL

Hey, I've missed you lately! But you know, I'm also so behind in so many friends' posts these days, I find I can sometimes only catch up with everyone just once a week or so!
Have a great rest of the week, Susanne! :)

How about a fashion show? Do their hair in curlers, etc., makeup, fancy clothes, and have them walk the "catwalk" with music and pictures.

Then, print the pictures out and they can take one home in a cheap frame as a favor...

1. Make their own pizza.
2. Twister!
3. Get a big pile of REALLY cheap makeup (wet and wild or nyc) in lots of outlandish colours and let them at it.
4. Have a fun take home craft - make your own lipbalm, maybe.
5. and a fun older girl movie - A Cinderella Story, something like that.

Pizza and movies maybe...was also going to say let them all bring makeup and turn them loose on each other! The manicures/pedicures is a good idea too, as are all the others!

Around the time I was that age, a really popular game was to fill a giant trash-bag with a wide variety of clothing items... old formals, hats, men's neckties, dresses, bras... anything and (almost) everything you can think of. Then the girls stand in a circle and pass the clothes around while music plays - like musical chairs. Whoever is holding the bag when the music stops reaches in without looking, and puts on whatever they pull out. The game is over when the bag is empty and all the party guests are wearing everything from the bag. Line up and take a picture! :)

Let the girls into the kitchen - have a few easy but incredibly unhealthy treats they can make (e.g. brownies or caramel pop corn etc etc) and let them go to town making it. (Expect a mess though)

Or buy a whole heap of beads, string, jewellry fixtures and the girls can make their own necklaces, bracelets. (you can find nice cheap bead in most discount stores)

I also like the scavenger hunt idea. if your party isn't too big you can just have 2 groups (2 cameras) and ask a trusted adult to go with each group. You can just do it around the neigbourhood. And to keep girls from wandering off (but you don't say that, you just say it's to make the game a bit harder) is to have everyone in the group link their legs together - like a huge three legged race. I promise the girls will be killing themslves laughing as they try not to fall over while getting photos.

My oldest is 14 and when she had her 13 year old birthday party it was a "make-over" theme. In each goodie bag I had little bottles of sample lotions, nail polish, cotton balls, small bottle of nail polish remover, hair ties, mini brushes with mini compacts and perfume. They had a blast. She had 4 of her best buds spend the nite, they did their nails, etc. after a feast of pizza, make your own sundaes and then once their make overs were done we took pics and popped in a dvd! (high school musical of course!!)

Love the manicure/pedicure/make-up idea - and to make it really fun my girl (17) and her friends would videotape it - like a fashion show and make a movie of it. Be prepared for lots of laughter and squealing!

You could do a "Build Your Own Sundae" Party. You provide the ice cream and a few basic toppings. You tell your guests to bring their favorite toppings (and also to build along their favorite nail polish) Start the party at 6 or 7 and tell your guest to eat dinner before they come but to save lots of room for dessert. [you can provide dinner but that does add to your expense]

The girls can watch a movie while they devour their delicious creations and afterwards perhaps they can bundle up and do a little star gazing. Then it's time for them to do their manicures/pedicures. After that maybe some sleep? ;-)

In the morning you can have a nice breakfast for them - maybe something that you and your daughter can make the previous afternoon that you can cook in the morning once they wake up.
