When asked if I wanted to review this book, I was very excited and immediately said "yes". I had already delved into "For Young Women Only" this year with my oldest daughter and have in the past couple years read "For Women Only". Both of those books were absolute eye openers to me and dispelled alot of assumtions I had but also confirmed other things I already knew. I can go as far as to say they were life changing for me. (They also have "For Men Only-A Straightforward Guide to the Inner Lives of Women. I plan on reading that, too!)
In this book, Shaunti Feldhahn and Lisa A. Rice delve into the relationship between parent and child. As the parent of three teenagers, I don't know of any parents of this age group where at one time or another we have not thought "What are you thinking?" when it comes to our kids. Well now, we can have an idea.
As is the style of these books, Shaunti and Lisa again use their skills and background in trained analysis to help parents understand their tween and teen children. By conducting confindential focus groups, kid-on-the-street interviews and giving professional surveys with the help of professional survey companies, this book incorporates the thoughts of 1200 kids. The findings are entirely research based and while not endorsing the behavior or excusing poor choices made by teens, the book helps to zone in on the inner feelings, needs, and temptations that often lead to those behaviors.
To remain totally honest, I have not had time to read the entire book due to customs hold up I only just recently recieved it, but with what I have read, I have not been disappointed. It is eye opening. Just as in the other two I have read I know I will be learning a lot.
There is also a discussion guide available to go along with this book.
Multnomah Books has graciously provided 2 books for me to give away. If you have tweens or teens or even younger children, this book is well worth the read. If you don't, do you know someone who does? Then leave me a comment on this post. One per person please. And make sure I have some way of getting ahold of you, such as a website or email address. You don't have to have a blog to win but if I can't contact you, you can't win, right? I'll draw courtesy of Random.org next Friday morning, December 7 and post the winner.

Hi Susanne,
I just saw Shaunti's new book but have not yet gotten it yet. She came to our church last year for our women's conference and taught out of her book "For Women Only"...it was good.
I've also read "For Men Only" which was VERY interesting.
Anyway - you can put me in the drawing!
Blessings!
I too have read the other two books Susanne and like you found them very helpful. My sixteen year old daughter really enjoyed the book for young women.
Count me in!
I've been wanting to read the For Young Women and For Women Only books.
Would love to read this too!
Blessings,
K
Oh yes please... count me in!! :-) Thanks!!
Anything that can lead to some understanding of my 10 and a half year old would be welcome around here!
Thanks Susanne!
Even at the age of 8... I would love to get inside my daughter's mind...
And yes, count me in too! :)
YES! Include me in your drawing! I have been thinking of getting For Young Women Only and just haven't yet. The one for Parents sounds perfect!
I could definitely use this book. Count me in please!
I would love to read this book, Susanne. Count me in, too, please.
I am so excited to have found your blogs...I can't even remember how I got here (this happens far too frequently lately). Faith, parenting, books, recipes...you've got all my favorites!! I'll be back for lots of good reading. Is the draw still open? I'm in, please, if it is!
