Out of the Mouths of Babes

Kids. You just never know what is going to come out of those little mouths. You might be at home. But then again, more likely not. You'll be out in public where their little words will hang out in the air and you will have to think really fast to cover for what they, in all their pure innocence have just announced to the world.

Janice at 5 Minutes For Mom, told yesterday of a little funny her son said and it reminded me of the little list I had written down of a few funnies heard around dayhome this summer, so I thought I'd share them for a cute kids moment.

~7 year old girl at the top of her lungs: "I need a boy to be my husband. Who wants to be it?"
She wanted to play house, of course, and wanted a daddy figure. I can't even remember who was willing to step up and oblige her.

~7 year old boy in the kiddie pool: "Everyone look at my bubble. It's huge!" Again at the top of his lungs. Referring to his swimsuit puffing out with air in the water.

~Me, on a day when I was very tired and just wanted nothing more than naptime to hurry up and come so I could sit down and put my feet up for hopefully 15 minutes: "Susanne's tired today!" Sypathetic response from 5 year old: "Well you can nap and me & T. & R & S. will have a partaaay!" (Ya, like I let them outa my sight for 2 seconds after that declaration!)

~4 year old in an ernest conversation at the lunch table with the others as they were discussing someone's trip to the zoo and the animals they had seen: "Ya, well, I once saw a dolphin in Africa!"

~at the playground as they were climbing and sliding: 7yr. old: "Are you adopted?" 4 year olds response: "No, I'm not a doptor (translation: doctor), but I'm a soccer goalie!"

And of course, we can't forget the slice of humble pie I had with this one. Yes, children and their sayings! My neighbors must wonder what on earth is going on at my house half the time!

Hee hee hee. Kids are so weird and inner censorless - you sound like you're great with the munchkins, though! I bet they have a lot of fun with you.

So cute!

My hubby sometimes reads what our kids' latest funny sayings were that day by reading my blog...:)
(That's not as pathetic as it sounds!) ;)

I so wish I'd stuck to my promise to myself and written all the things like this my girls said when they were growing up. Of course, I didn't. But oh my sweet goodness, there were times when I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me.

I do remember Krissy saying, in a grocery store, at the top of her lungs of course, "That lady's hair is white 'cause she's real old!" She was maybe 45. And her hair was bleached out platinum blond but she'd obviously been around the block a few times. She hates me. And my kid. All these years later, I'm sure she does. And she didn't even know us. A complete stranger.

I love the "it's 'cause your old" story. Too funny.

I have to tell you, you have my endless admiration for running a day home. I told Rob two years ago, when Krissy was only pregnant and I knew I'd be taking care of a baby again after all those years, well heck! If I'm going to take care of one, I might as well take care of six. Think of the extra money.

No way. Absolutely, unequivocally, no way.

Kids surely can say some funny things, can't they? You'll want to remind of these sayings them when they're say 25.
