Everyday Things ~ Rain

"...For I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." Philippians 4:11

Notice I still have my summer tomoatoes up on the everyday banner. That's 'cause it's so hot here yet. It dosen't feel like fall at all. Except the nights are getting cooler.

So today, I'm picking rain as my everyday thing that makes me content. I love rain at this time of year. I'm not talking of rain that will not go away and comes down all day in a deluge, but the rain that comes slow, stays only a day or two. It does so many things to make me feel content. It's like it's washing the earth. Washing it from the heat, the dryness and dustiness of August heat. And it smells so good. I always think that that is what God's cologne would smell like if He wore cologne. Silly, I know, but I've had that thought since childhood, and ya know, I've kept it because it makes me feel sorta secure and happy. A nice rain at this time of year gives everything outside a perkier look, like they've had a nice cool glass of water. Somehow it's not quite the same from a garden hose and sprinkler. I don't know, maybe I'm off my rocker. But I'm sure they just stand a little straighter and stronger like they just scrubbed up to be inspected by the King. Yes, rain definitely does this soul good!

Head over Jules for more everyday contentment and if you've got something that makes you content add your name the list so that we can come on over and read yours.

We had a day of rainfall this week also. Truly refreshing! "Smelling like God's cologne... I love that!"

indeed - as a matter of fact we just received 10 inches or so thanks to Tropical Storm Ernesto and it cooled us off from the 90's to low 70's --- come on FALL!!!!! :)

We have rain here too. It has been raining almost all week. The first part of the week it was from a low front.Today it is thanks to hurricane Ernesto. The rains have not been heavy but just sprinkles like you mentioned in your post.

One of my favorite dream days is a rainy day, new book and a porch with rocker to keep us dry while I read outside. Love the rain too.

I love rainy days, I can curl up with a book and read all day. Great thing to be thankful for.

I love the picture of "God's cologne." That is SOOOO awesome.

When my son was small we had a screened in front porch. On cool evenings when it would rain I would drag the rocking chair out and let him crawl up in my lap. We would rock and listen to the rain.

He is a Junior in high School now, but still finds solice in the rain. He loves a rainy day.

His bedroom is upstairs with 2 walls of windows shaded by a huge tree. Great room for a rainy day.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and thanks for sharing your rainy day!

But it's not fall yet!! Not till Sept 22...it's still summer.

I love rain too..though, here in the Lower Mainland, you pretty much have too! They don't call it the wetcoast for nothin!
I love the smell of road when it rains after a long dry spell, and the sound of rain on the roof.

Rain is one of my favorite things, especially now that we've had so little. There is nothing like anticipating a thunderstorm. Good choice. :)

I'll never smell rain again and not think about this.

I love the smell of rain - I love smelling it in the air far off and know that the rain is coming.
