A Novel Idea

Katrina at Callapidder Days has tagged me for a novel meme. The one and only question is:

If you could write a novel about any subject, what would it be? Just the subject, don't give away any plot ideas.

I had to sit and think hard about this one. Like Katrina, I am a voracious reader, usually having several books on the go at one time. But to write my own? That's a whole other kettle of fish.

In order to answer that I guess I would have to write about what was interesting to me at the time. Which means that if you asked me this question a year from now, the answer might change. The subject would have to hold my interest through the hours of research required, and to build a whole story around it.

I think at the moment I would like my novel to be about something to do with a stolen biblical treasure that the hero or lady hero (the other word for said lady gets edited) would have to track down. (I'm assuming it's a fiction novel the question is about). They would have to retrace steps of an event in the bible through the Holy Land and surrounding countries, then probably back to Canada all the while running into skeptical sounding characters and of course, the bad guy probably who was working for some government trying to sell the something to some other country. Okay, reading that it sounds really silly, but I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Unlike Katrina, I will not be brave enough to put a paragraph of above mentioned book up for you all to read. I think I'm totally in this mode of thinking because I'm reading a book about an archeologist finding both Noah's ark and the Ark of the Covenant with of course bad guys trying to shut him down and a really cool documentary we watched on the weekend called "The Exodus Decoded". Check back in a year and depending on what my mind is on and we'll see what I come up with.

By the way, for you bibliophiles, that picture at the top is actually a table. Yes a table with a secret drawer. You can buy it here.

Ooo...I like your idea. I'm a fan of anything with some action and adventure.

And...love that table! I just bought some chairs for our "library" (which is really just "the room that contains our cluttered bookshelves"), and I've been looking for a little end-table or something to put next to them. I'm going to check that table out.

That's excellent! Like a Canadian Biblical Indiana Jones! Very fun.

Katrina: It's a really cool table! And I've now changed my sentence to read "And unlike Katrina..." sorry I put Katherine. Hadn't had my first cup of coffee yet and my brain just froze I guess. So sorry.

Beck: I think I'm in that mode 'cause of the book I'm reading now and a really cool documentary we just watched called "The Exodus Decoded".

Very interesting. I actually want to write a book. I've got the idea, and I need to get going with it, but finding time is a hard thing to do!

I love fiction with historical stuff thrown in there. I'm with you - you know, all 5'8" of me--NOT! Har har!

Wow. That stack of books is a table? How cool is that! I thought - oh nevermind what I thought. That's pretty clever. And I will be sure to check back in exactly one year. :-)

A very cool table - your novel has a Ted Dekker feel have you read him? A very interesting Christian author. I like the Red, Balck and White trilogy best. Although Blessed Child is very good too,

heather: You go girl! You're a great writer!

katherine: Hee!

barb: It is cool, eh! Ya we'll see what next has me interested in! Ya never know!

islandsparrow: love Ted Dekker. I've read the black, red, white. I did find it a little confusing at times due to all the symbolism. Would like to reread it. Read three and another one I can't think of off the top of my head.

Now I remember. Blink was the other Ted Dekker I read.

Sounds like a great book to me. And, love the table. You could use it in your book. Maybe the hidden treasure is in the little secret drawer!! :>)

I could absolutely never write fiction. Just not creative enough. Theres likely a really great non-fiction inside all of us, the story we've lived. I loved your point, the work involved in writing something, the time invested. Much easier to just go to the library and check it out. We do all have a book inside us, and we're generally sharing it, one chapter at a time.
