Friday's Fave Five #899

It's Friday, time to look back over our week.  Time to intentionally look for every good thing that has been a part of lives this week.  I was looking for something in my blog this week and came across this paragraph  I wrote years ago  and it really connected with me again so I thought I'd repost it today.  "Looking for blessings in the good times sets up habits in our lives that help us through the harder times.  Let's face it, when the walls are crashing down (as they will at some point), when we are in the mundane trenches of raising kids, working jobs, overwhelming to-do lists and the stress of changes life throws our way, if we haven't developed habits of looking for what is actually good, what God has sent to bless us, at the joy that comes from simple things that make us smile, what makes us think that all of a sudden in the hard times we will be able to come up with the fortitude to all of a sudden do it?  Now that was one long sentence but one big life principle.  So on that note let's get grateful for our blessings from the last week!"

Thanks for joining in with me and sharing five of your blessings from last week that you are thanking God for!

~ beautiful day to walk ~ last Saturday was a stunning late summer day so we took advantage of it and went to our favorite area for walks, the river bottom.  The weather was perfect, not too hot or too cold and not a spec of wind, unusual in these parts. While there were other people down there enjoying the day the paths were fairly empty.  We're soaking in every last bit summer wants to give us.

~ flower show ~  the lady slippers in my bicycle planter are really putting on a show this year,  They've never done this well for me and Im loving it,

~ OCC (Operation Christmas Child) National Kick Off ~ This week was the  national kick off for Operation Christmas Child and it's Connect volunteers from across Canada met on Zoom for  encouragement, inspiration and prayer. It's exciting to get to see others who head up the different areas from each province.  It's "Go time" for us and our teams.

~ not losing my tooth ~ a couple weeks ago I broke a tooth that was mostly all filling.  The dentist temprarily added filling and we waited a week for the tooth to calm down. On my re-check this week, the root seemed to be doing good so no root canal, Praise God.  I just have to get a crown.  So thankful I don't have to go thru yet another root canal.

~ a good night's sleep ~ after a few night's of broken sleep it was heaven to get a night of solid
Zzzzzz's.

What were your favorite blessings this week that you are thankful for?

Oh those lady slippers do look beautiful. The sunflowers are doing wonderfully this year in New England. I love this time of year.

I so agree with your first paragraph. This has been a week where it would have been easy for me to stay down in the doldrums. It's easy to be consumed with what's going wrong. But when we intentionally look for God's blessing, we find them, and we're encouraged that He really is there, cares for us, and is working for our good.

I agree, too, about getting the last best bits of summer. I'm looking forward to relief from the heat dome we're under, but I am trying to be content in whatever literal season we're in.

Those lady slippers are so pretty! I always look forward to OCC. There's so much that goes on behind the scenes for it that most people don't know. I'm thankful you give us a little window into that.

That's so good you didn't have to have a root canal. And yay for a good night's sleep!

Like Barbara, I read your first paragraph and it resounded with me. Busyness and life should never keep us from forming the habit of gratitude. It sets the rhythm for how we view every event of life.
Oh yes! No root canal is definitely a blessing!
I'm glad you have been able to be outside and walk in the river bottom. Hopefully, our heat and humidity will go away now and we can enjoy some walks along our river.
The lady slippers are brilliant!

OOH i've had one root canal and have a crown in a different spot and I remember being so thankful I didn't need a 2nd root canal!! Glad your tooth has the crown!

Those flowers are gorgeous!

Love that you were able to get out for a nice Saturday walk.
YAY for OCC. I love the ministry and love doing the shopping every November.

Have a fabulous weekend

Love the No Root Canal. They are a particular trial, and it is a blessing that you don't have to have one. And OCC is a wonderful ministry. I haven't done it for a couple of years but need to get back into it.

I made a mistake. #6 and #7 on Mister Linky are both me. I accidentally re-posted from early August on #6. Not sure how to get it off of there? Thanks so much.

The riverwalk outing must have been so nice! Our church is having a meeting for OCC next week. We are a drop location, and our church always collects lots of boxes. They also work at the processing and distribution center. I usually help at the distribution table, but I will be in Isreal. I am glad your tooth is okay. Good sleep is like gold these days!

I've never seen lady slippers before (Streptocarpus)! And have just discovered they can survive my zone.

Yay for retaining your tooth. Hope it will continue to serve you well.
Yay for OCC -- I've started on my boxes too. Blessings to you and your team of volunteers as you gear up.
