Welcome to Friday's Fave Five. It's the wonderful day of the week where we can take a pause and look for the blessings in our busy week, then taking the next step of being grateful for them. Please join in with us!
~ concrete out and taken away ~ my big garden project this year was to remove the concrete hunks that I had as a front garden border and put in the nice bricks. The concrete came out easier than expected and the job was done in no time. Hubby hauled it to the top of the drivewary out of the way for me saving me that hard work. Big bonus: one of my dayhome parents even hauled it away for me as he could use it for something to do with his dugout on the acreage.
~ new stone border in ~ Saturday morning the weather turned cool with predictions of rain. It made the hard work of putting in the new stones for the border so much easier than having to do it in the heat. I got it all done just before the first raindrops started to fall. I love how it turned out. It matches the round front flower bed and looks so much nicer that chunks of broken concrete!
~ no floods, no water in the house, fire bans lifted ~ speaking of rain, boy did it ever! Four days straight! It had been so dry before. Our city already had a couple major coulee fires this year and we were already in a fire ban. The rain wet it all good and deep so now that is lifted. And I am so thankful that with all that rain, though the river is high it hasn't flooded and no water seeped into the house.
~ lupins a blooming ~ after a few years of my lupins working on getting established this is their year! They are showing off splendidly. It makes me happy raising the curtains each morning and seeing them in all their glory.
~ visit from son ~ my son came for a visit this weekend. Though the rain prevented us from doing the sorts of stuff we would have liked, like hiking and bike riding, the time spent together was enjoyable. We did a little shopping, watched a movie, cooked a nice Sunday lunch and just enjoyed having him home. Two weekends in a row having one and another of the grown kids home makes this Mama's heart happy and thankful.
What were your favorite blessings from your last week?

That stone brick border looks so nice. It's wonderful that you had a cool morning to work on it, got it done before the rain, had hubby's help to move the pieces, and had someone who could use the old concrete and haul it away. The flower beds are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got rain but that the amount of it didn't cause problems.
And best of all was having your son visit. I'm glad you had time with him last weekend.
Your garden is looking lovely. Family time is always a blessing. Glad you got enough rain but not too much. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe have gotten a ton of rain in the last two weeks also. Huge blessing. We've gone from "severe drought" down two steps to "moderate drought." I think that lack of rain for awhile doubly reminds us of Who is really in control!!!
ReplyDeleteThe border looks nice. It is gratifying to complete a project like this one. Woohoo for a visit from your son. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord for the blessing of rain when needed and no flooding
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new border.....your ring of flowers with those stones (we call them pavers) are the type we used to create our permanent firepit. the flowers are blooming so nicely!
Time with the young adult children is always a blessing..I even got to see one of mine TWICE this week
your hubby is a keeper :)
I love it when we can pass on something we don't want to someone who will use that thing. Like the cement pieces.
ReplyDeleteAnd your new front border looks lovely. I have similar pavers all over my gardens. They make it look more tidy, I think. And your lupines are gorgeous!
Thankful with you for the rain and for the weekend visit with your son!
Your garden looks so nice and the lupins are so pretty! I have seen them in blue when we were near Yosemite. Nice that you got to spend time with your son! My kids are close and I see then often. Have a great weekend!
