Friday's Fave Five #868

Welcome to a very frosty cold Friday's Fave Five.  I hope it's warmer where you are.  But I'm so glad you came to join in once again to look for blessings that make your days more uplifting, blessings that bring you joy or even blessings that just get you through your day.

~ hard working hubby ~ well we've had another big dump of snow and I am so thankful for my Hubby who goes out there before families start arriving to the dayhome to shovel all the walks, steps and big double driveway.  I'm open at 7:30 so that means he is out there well before that.  I'm so grateful especially now when it's hard for me to shovel.  I can do it, but then I pay for it later.  I used to love shoveling and would do some the night before as it was needed but now the whole thing has fallen on him.  So out he goes faithfully every morning when there has been snowfall without a word of complaint.  He's a champ!

~ tea advent calendar ~ my friend gifted me with an advent calendar from David's Tea.  There has been a delicious tea to try for each day.  That in itself has been a delight, but she also bought herself one and we've been connecting daily with our thoughts on each flavor of the day.  That has made it even more of a gift.

~ tree finally decorated ~ the Christmas tree made it up the first week of December but for various reasons it has taken forever to get it fully decorated.  But finally on Thursday night I finished it. I can finally get all the boxes out of my upstairs and back down where they belong.  I'm the kind of person who takes the bull by the horns and does a job until it's finished rather than do it small chunks.  So the fact that this took a week and a half with everything sitting around was beyond frustrating.  But now I can enjoy the beautiful glow of the lights without stressing that it's only partially done!

~ shopping done ~ I'm pretty much done the Christmas shopping with just little odds and ends left and the groceries.  So thankful for that.  Now that the tree is done I can get to wrapping and get that checked off the list.

~ great news ~ all the kids will be home for Christmas this year.  This hasn't happened in awhile.  So I'm beyond excited.  Barring bad driving conditions for my daughter coming from another province, we'll have at least a few days where we'll all be together to celebrate Christmas.  Praying for good weather over the holidays.

What were some of your blessings this week?

  1. How wonderful that all your kids will be able to come for Christmas! We've gotten most of our shopping done, too, and I am about halfway done signing and addressing Christmas cards. That was my goal for this week, so I am happy! It's nice to be finished with the tree. It looks lovely! That is great of your husband to shovel the driveway, steps, and sidewalks before the kids come.

  2. Praise God for husbands who do all the shoveling. I paid for it last Tuesday. I HAD to go out and shovel the 5 inches we unexpectedly received. (here in Albany NY we barely ever get snow before Xmas) because Dave was at work. Both my doc, the spine surgeon, and my chiro said NO MORE SHOVELING with your cervical issues. It's NOT good. Boy were they right. I'm finally starting to recover from it. The part that does me in is the lifting of it. I can push snow but this needed to be lifted. Praise the Lord for our husbands!

YAY for the "kids" for coming for Xmas. We will have both on Xmas day but I'm not sure about after the Xmas Eve services. Courtney's been mentioning about going to the bf's. Sigh. :)

I'm ALMOST done with the shopping. I have one thing that might not get here until January 1st which is frustrating as I ordered it this past week. And I have a couple of other people to shop for. What helps is we are no longer shopping for extended family so that's a huge stress relief.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend enjoying that pretty tree. (I only have had a 3 foot tabletop one now for the last 3 years...again...because I'm the only one here who cares about decorating and I can no longer carry up the pieces of the 7 foot one so i gave it to my cousin!).

  3. Hi Susanne! Your tree is beautiful! It's so great that your whole family will be together for Christmas! That is truly a blessing. It's always such a good feeling to be finished with the shopping. I should be finished completely this weekend. Have a good weekend! See you again soon!

  4. Hooray for a hard working and supportive husband and Yippee for all the kids home for Christmas. It doesn't sound like we will have a white Christmas or any snow in the near future. My tree finally got ornaments on it on Thursday, too. Whew! Have a good weekend.

  5. Shovelling snow is no fun. I'm glad your Hubby can do that for you. My son in Vermont and his in-laws clubbed together to buy a snow blower. Another benefit of them living so close to one another. Yay for having all the kids home at Christmas. Your tree looks pretty. Mine didn't make it up until this week either. Have a good weekend Susanne.
