Friday's Fave Five #813

Welcome to a very frosty Friday.  I don't know what it's like where you are but winter has arrived with a bang here in my neck of the woods. Very cold and snowing.  But even though the weather isn't what I would prefer there is still lots of blessings to find and be thankful for.  Please join in as we develop the habit of noticing blessings God sends our way and pausing to be grateful, not just once a year but as a lifestyle.

~ personal OCC gifts packed with love and prayer ~ I finished the last minute shopping and put together my shoebox gift finishing them off with a prayer.   I so enjoyed putting them together and memories of when I went to Costa Rica to help distribute shoebox gifts to children really spurred me on to challenge myself to do extra boxes this year.  So much fun.

~ church shoe boxes collected ~     Sunday was collection day for the shoebox gifts at my church.  The last few years we've been hovering around a total of 65 boxes packed by our church members.  This year so far the count has come in at 92!   So thankful for everyone who participated!  I know it was a sacrifice for some.

~ new bed ~ Hubby and I bit the bullet and finally went out and got a new bed.  We decided this was our Christmas present to each other.  So worth it.  And we got a decent price.  So double blessing.

~ celebrating hubby ~ Yesterday was Hubby's birthday.  The kids contacted him in various ways to wish him a Happy Birthday and sent some fun gifts.  I got him a vitamix blender he's been wanting for years and took him out for a nice dinner to a favorite Italian restaurant.

~ tiramisu ~ one of my favorite desserts ever!  Because it was his birthday it was compliments of the restaurant.  He was gracious enough to share it with me.  Yum!!

What have been your favorite blessings of the last week?

  2. It was MY husband’s birthday yesterday too! He bought a bigger snowblower. Looks like we’re both in for another big blast of winter this weekend. Stay cozy and warm!

  3. Happy BIrthday to your Dave and that's my Dave's favorite dessert too!!
We don't have the final count yet for our church and the OCC collection but usually it's about 500 boxes from us and then we are also a collection spot for other local churches. They will probably announce it this weekend as today the truck is being packed. It is one of my fave organizations to shop for/give to.
Oh wow you're having winter?! we are JUST starting to see some colder temps here and by colder i mean low 40s F. It's been oddly warm here in eastern NY this Autumn. But we are rejoicing because Wed night and all day yesterday we had RAIN. Our drought has been lifted. Today is low 40s and sunny with a partially blue sky to the east. grey clouds to the west. I'll be taking my walk early after breakfast as it's supposed to rain again later and I"m ok with it.
    Happy Weekend Susanne!

  4. It's wintry here this week, but thankfully not snowy. We turned in OCC boxes this week, too. Such fun! Yay for a new bed. That can make such a difference in the quality of our sleep.

Belated happy birthday to your husband! Sounds like it was a good one!

  5. I'm so thankful that we don't have snow yet! If I didn't drive 30 miles to work I would care.

  6. Happy Birthday to your hubby! Another orbit around the sun.
I saw that north of us (and northwest) got snow. Our snow fell but didn't stick; still it's cold out.
I'm glad you have been able to help with the OCC boxes. I'm not sure how many have been delivered at our church so far, but it looked like lots. I love how people share so much.
Good choice on the new bed. You'll sleep better.
    Have a good week!

Tiramisu is very decadent but yum!
We're turning colder here as well but not snow, thank goodness. I'm just not ready that for yet.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, or do you celebrate that holiday up there?
