Friday's Fave Five #812

It's Friday and that means we take a pause in our regularly scheduled days and look back to take note and be thankful for the blessings we have had over the course of the week.  Taking this small moment of time to just reflect on God's blessings with grateful hearts, whether big or small, helps us to realize how truly good life is even when we are going through hard things.  At times it may be hard and we have to dig deep but if we develop the habit of being grateful it helps carry us through those tougher times.  Please join in as we share five of our favorite blessings from the last week.

~ time with nothing on the agenda ~ last weekend afforded us some much needed time with nothing on the agenda or the to do list.  It seems we've been so busy lately on weekends that we were extra thankful for this down time to rest and relax.  It being a long weekend gave us that extra day so that nothing needed to be rushed or squeezed in.  Thankful for that time to rest.

~ Remembrance Day services ~ I took the time to watch the Remembrance Day service from Ottawa, our capital city.  It was very moving and I'm thankful to remember the men and women who served with courage and honor.

~ lost earring found ~ the week before I had lost an earring.  Not usually a big deal.  But these were a pair that used to belong to my Mom.  They weren't even real gold I don't think, but they were sentimental.  I was so bummed.  I called all the places I'd been that day, hoping someone had it but no luck.   A few days later, one called back saying they had found it.  I was so thankful they took the time to set it aside and phone back.

~ mild fall ~ the weather has been holding up on the good side so far giving us a pretty mild fall.  It's been really windy a couple of days but for mid-November it's been really good.  We've had lots of outside with the kids and I've been able to walk the dog often too.  So thankful for the nice days.

~ my dog ~ this week I was thinking how thankful I am for this little furball in my life.  Yes, having a pet can be expensive and they do tie you down in some ways but the trade off, for us, is worth it. He brings joy and laughter with his funny personality and quirks, just petting him relieves stress, he can keep a secret, he gets me out for walks and exercise, he always greets us with so much excitement when we come home. I'm thankful God brought him around when we had kinda decided we were not going to get another dog.

What blessings are you grateful for this week?

I am glad your earring was found, especially since it belonged to your mom. Yes, I agree that dogs give us so much. They love us unconditionally.

Oh my goodness that little furball is cute! I'm glad you found your earring. I think that sentimental value is worth more than monetary value. I would probably never have called all of those places but it's a good thing you did.

These are all such wonderful blessings from our Lord! I'm glad you had a totally restful weekend....and that your weather, like ours here in the Northeast, has been mild. That's a HUGE blessing.
So happy for you that the ear ring was found and that someone called you regarding it. That's like a miracle in and of itself!
Your puppy is cute.....we are not pet owners due to always working outside the home and all the travel we've done and still do...but our youngest loves her kitty cat that she has owned the last 2 years.....she loves going home to her apt and curling up with him after work she says. :)
I hope you have another nice weekend!

I love days like that, when nothing *has* to be done. I'm so glad the lost earring was found and that whoever found it took time to call.

We've had a fairly mild fall so far, too. It's been a little cooler the last day or so, but not bone-chilling.

Your dog is a cutie.

I am so glad that your earring was found and the people at the store called you. That happened to me several years ago and I remember how grateful I felt.
Dogs and cats do provide so much joy. That's why I love my granddogs. Like grandchildren, I can enjoy their company and then sent them home with their parents.
I agree about the mild fall. It has been so pleasant to be outside this month.
Have a good weekend!

That really was nice that you got that call back about the lost earring. Pets do add a lot to a household. Yippee for outdoor time with your kiddos. Happy weekend!

You're the third person mentioning thankfulness for a clear agenda! What a lovely thing it is to have "no fixed engagements" (from Pride and Prejudice).

That was very kind of that person to let you know of that found earring!

Your little guy has such a sweet face. Animals are such good companions, aren't they? They are such a gift to us (even with expenses and care).

What a cute face ! Of course you melt ! I am happy with my little Rosie, it's true at least you can talk and she always agrees ! Good that you found your earring ! would have been a pity. I am still looking for a bag of jewelry which must be here but where ? I had hidden it so well that I can't find it anymore !

We attended our local (indoor, at the event centre) Remembrance Day service. I always find it moving, this year more than ever for some reason. There was one 100-year-old gentleman there who had served in the Second World War. He received a long and much-deserved standing ovation.

Love the photo of your pup. They surely do enrich our lives. We love them so much, don’t we?
