"Family Squeeze" Blog Tour

"Family Squeeze" by Phil Callaway

Summary (from the book cover):
You’re in the “Middle Ages”–sandwiched between the “greatest generation” and the “gimme” generations, busily juggling both with no relief in sight. Children are driving, and parents are not. Money is tight and so are your favorite jeans. And things that never ached before are beginning to give you trouble! For every baby boomer who wonders if it’s possible to navigate the Middle Ages with grace and style, Phil Callaway offers plenty of hope and a little hilarity, too. Because there’s nothing like a smile to make wrinkles less noticeable.

For me: A light hearted read, Family Squeeze takes us through the challenge of having both teenagers and aging parents, a place many of us find ourselves. Approaching this time of life with a "do unto your parents as you want your children to do unto you" and "honoring your parents" motto, the author shows how despite the pressures of this time we can ease worries if we focus on what really matters in life. Totally relatable, chock full of humour and heart tugging moments, with plenty of words of wisdom, I couldn't put the book down. It's definitely going to find a place on my bookshelf, when I need encouragement as I, too, navigate these waters of the Sandwich Generation.

Author Bio:
Described as “Dave Barry with a message,” author, speaker, and television host Phil Callaway has written twenty books, many of them bestsellers and is a popular speaker at conferences, camps and marriage retreats, coaxing laughter and tears from audiences worldwide. Of his personal accomplishments he rates the following highest: shutting off the TV to listen to his children’s questions (twice), taking out the garbage without being told (once), and convincing his high school sweetheart Ramona to marry him (once).

This sounds like a good book. I am just into the teen thing with my oldest and my youngest is in first year of being a "tween" and I am premenopausal!
....hormones are raging all around us here...and ofcourse facing the fact that my parents are now in their mid-70's!

Boy, do I know what this is like! I too, was "squeezed" and found that my faith and humor were my most important allies. And I also wondered why God would orchestrate such timing as menopause and parents and teens!
