Crockpot Beef & Gravy
1 1/2 kg. (3lbs.) stew beef, or outside or inside round steak, trimmed & cut into cubes
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 Tbsp. flour
1/3 c. cold water
Brown the meat over med high heat and transfer to crockpot. Add remaining ingrediants except flour and water. Stir. Cook on high for 5 hours. At the 4th hour stir together flour and cold water until a smooth paste is formed. Add to crock while stirring crock ingrediants to avoid lumps. Allow to cook for that last hour.
*UPDATE: a dear reader emailed me and mentioned that her meat wasn't letting up enough juices to make any kind of gravy. So if you are finding that or if you like lots of gravy or if you like a richer gravy, then I suggest you add about a cup to a cup and a half of water to the brownings in the fry pan. Scrap them up really good and then add to the crockpot with the other ingredients. You'll have to adjust the flower accordingly.
Serve with mashed potatoes.
This makes lots. I usually freeze some to a quick meal later in the month.
