Welcome to Friday and Friday's Fave Five. We are intentionally looking back over the week to find the blessings that God has sent our way. We are developing our abilities of noticing those good things, whether big or small, and remembering to be thankful for them.
~ no tornado ~ well yesterday afternoon the air got real hot and heavy and the next thing we knew we had tornado watches and warnings happening within a 130 km radius of the city. The city itself was under orange alert but some of the counties to the south east were in the red alert warning but thankfully no actual emergency alerts were issued. In the city I was more worried about hail that comes with weather like that but we didn't see any of that either. Though it's rare that we get really dangerous tornadoes, they can still do a lot of damage to farms and there have been a handful of really devastating ones in the province over the decades, the latest being an EF4 in 2023. Thankful this didn't materialize.
~ brace ~ one of the recommendations from the Acute Knee Injury Clinic was for me to try an off loading brace. I had my appointment this week and was fitted and now have it at home. The blessing is I get to try it for 2 weeks for free to see if it helps and if I like it. And because I'm now of that "mature" age and have no extended benefits a gov't program funds it fully. Good thing because when I looked it up online it's over $600! Yikes. But it seems to be helping so far.
~ fun evenings ~ over summer my ladies study doesn't meet regularly for study but we'll have a few meet-ups for fun. This week we met for a night of fun painting. One of the ladies wanted fun artwork on her fence and invited us all to participate. She wanted us to be creative and do whatever. I went for the visit and didn't think I'd paint but ended up adding a little something. It was a fun evening.
~ blooms are a blessing ~ flowers just make me think of God as the Creator and Artist and bring a smile. I love putzing around in the cool of the morning dead heading and watering. The plantars seem to be doing well so far and are setting my deck and front porch ablaze in color.
~ new treats ~ these yummy treats I found at C*stco. With little sugar one takes care of the sweet chocolate craving.
What were your favorite blessings from the week?

Your friend was brave to let people paint her fence! But I guess she could paint over anything she didn't like. I'm glad you didn't get any tornadoes or hail. That's so good that you get to try the brace for free, and that it seems to be helping. Your flowers are looking so pretty.
ReplyDeleteoh Susanne I'm so glad you're getting a brace for your knee! Praise God it's helping.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you didn't get a bad tornado!
I wish I liked pistachios...for some reason I really don't. My sister Hope absolutely loves anything pistachio. She makes a beautiful pistachio cake that my husband loves. Our city (Albany, 6 miles south of me) is getting a Costco. It's grand opening is August 6 but Dave doesn't like memberships to stuff like that so I guess I won't be going. Sigh.
Your flowers are beautiful and whomever did the tall wildflower type painting on that fence is good! That section is my fave. But won't the paint get all runny with rain??
ENUOY the weekend.
Paint was acrylic so should be fine especially if she put a clear coat over it.
DeleteYour blooms look so lovely. What a sweet idea put art work on that very white fence! Glad the tornados spared you. One of our friend's son's shop was totaled by one in Saskatchewan.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are blooming beautifully! I love all the colors!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful with you that you were spared any tornadoes. They can be devastating.
The paintings on the white fence are cute. What a fun idea.
I hope you are safe from all the fires and smoke.
Have a happy week!
No fires around here as of yet.
DeleteWell I have been AWOL for a few weeks but hope to get a post done this week although it might be a bit late. Your flowers are lovely and your anniversary flowers were stunning. Sorry you're having such problems with your knee. I hope the brace is helping and that the pain is manageable. I checked my settings and I don't think my comments come up as "No reply" but let me know if they do. Have a relaxing weekend Susanne.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to paint on this wall ! What fun and what a good relaxing ! Your flowers are beautiful, and fortunately you escaped the tornado ! Today is our first "cold" day since 3 weeks, and of course the temperature went from +30°C to 20°C today, of course such drastic changes make a lot of people sick ! Our hospitals are full !
ReplyDeleteOh, yeahhh! No tornado! And no hail. Grateful for that storm and its damage not materializing.
ReplyDeletePraying that brace will give you the support you need.
I look forward to your floral displays and this year is no exception. These are so bright and just beautiful. Isn't the variety and color so fun? You have a good eye for combinations. God makes good things :-)
