ReplyDeleteOh yum. I can almost taste it! In the Spring I was disappointed that I wasn't able to get my garden in.

Tomato sandwiches are my favorite. On sourdough bread with mayo. That one looks like it will be verrrry tasty!

ReplyDeleteMy family has always always raised tons of tomatoes, but my husband & I now live in the city with a cement pad for a backyard. . . no tomato plants. :-(

Dont wait for it to turn red...it will be too late. Pick it now...let it sit in your window seal to finish..bugs or varmits might get it & you will be very sorry! Now pass the Bacon & lettuce please!

I've been taking home-grown tomatoes to work for lunch. Mmmm.
ReplyDeleteNo need to leave it on the vine unless you just want to. You may pick with the first blush of pink- sit it on the kitchen counter for further ripening-- with no sacrifice in taste. My life in and amongst master gardeners has taught me that when the tomato is blushing pink, it has all it needs to ripen with beautiful flavor. And your tomatoes are beautiful.
