Friday's Fave Five #42

Hello and welcome everyone. It's great to be here on a Friday looking back over our weeks. It's been great looking for the little blessings in the midst of my day and remember to be thankful for all that lifts my days and makes me smile. If you are new, you can go here for details about Friday's Fave Five. Then the only thing to do is jump right in! Thanks to all of you who faithfully join in and bring a smile to me each Friday!

1. This post by my friend Katherine at Raising Five. It really, really spoke to me. It's about teens and church camps and games and overflowing toilets at midnight. You know. All the stuff of getting a whole bunch of teens together for a week. But it's also about so much more! If you've never read Katherine's blog and you have children, preteens or teens you need to check her out. The wisdom this lady has is incredible. She really needs to write a book. You hear that Katherine! You need to write a devotional book or something! :v)

2. Family together for Father's Day. Unfortunately, I didn't take a darn picture. What's up with that?! I need to smarten up! LOL. But we did have a great day. A big bbq at my sister's place with our dad and both our families. Love it.

3. Having a neighbor that talks over the fence with me. Being at home all the time with the dayhome kiddies it sure is nice to have a neighbor who's also outside with her own dayhome kids and we have a chance to chat. A real live adult to talk to and one who understands all the things relating to dayhoming!

4. Reading outside with a tall cool drink. Love being outside to read. Listening to the kids playing, listening to the breeze going through all the leaves of my trees, sitting in the Adirondack chairs, sipping on a cold drink. Definitely one of my favorite things!

5. I have flowers on my two little tomato plants! You don't know how excited I was to see those little yellow flowers pop their heads out yesterday. Hear that, Barb?! We're both going to be enjoying a tomato or two this summer. Good thing for all the babying we're both doing with those plants. Sheesh. I can taste those bacon and tomato sandwiches now. Yummy!

Susanne, I didn't take any photos on Father's Day either! Oops! Only one of the kids was with his dad, but the others called.

My neighbors on both sides are delightful and I enjoy chatting with them. Good neighbors are a treasure.

Your description of no. 3 reminds me of my mother talking, yeah! exactly the way you described it, (fence thing included) with a neighbor. Sometimes while I play I I overhear their topic: us, their children. The good old days.

I love reading outside too; I do it on a hammock back home under a giant golden duranta :-) Lovely faves! Here's wishing you another great week, Susanne!

I remember the days of being home with my little ones. I was happy to be able to do that but there were days when I was lonely for other adults.

There is nothing like a good neighbor and friend to chat with. I am blessed with one of mine as well.
I too didn't take pics on Father's Day...I think we were focused so much on Claire and her ballet show! But it was great taking him out to lunch and playing games with him.
LOVE the idea of a cold drink and a book....no FF for me today...am in midst of finishing packing and we are off to Acadia National Park!!

I'm glad your tomato plants are showing promise. Dear and I were alone for Father's day but we'll see all our kids this weekend yippee!!
I hope you have some time this weekend to sit outside and enjoy reading with a cool drink!

Oh my goodness, I totally forgot about posting anything about Father's Day! I can't believe it ...

Anyway, glad your week went well. I love reading out on my glider with a cool drink, when there's a breeze, that is!

Good neighbors are certainly something to be thankful for. How neat that you both do the same kind of work!

Back yard fence neighbors. I miss having one of those! Cool drinks and a good long read. Tomato plants. Sounds like you know how to appreciate summer days. Enjoy!

I love reading outside too. Sometimes we take a picnic dinner somewhere and sit and read outside for a while under a shady tree. So much more relaxing than going out to eat.

I am excited about my tomato and basil too. Yummy summer eating coming up.

# 4--I must go do that today, too--grab a stack of books and go sit on the swing under the trees with a Diet Dr. Pepper and some chocolate chip cookies. I have the "day off" (i.e. my husband and daughter are gone to grandma's for the day) so yippee!

Sounds like a lovely, summery Fave Five! We're not growing anything this year but I do remember the excitement of seeing those little sprouts reach up and grow into food.

It's nice that your neighbor has a day home as well -- no worries about kids bothering the neighbors.

What a blessing to be able to spend a special day with your whole family!

Having a near neighbor who can be a friend is, indeed, a blessing - I'm glad you have her to talk to.

Reading outside on a summer day is one of my favorite things to do as well - as long as there is shade to sit in. :)

Great list!! I'm realizing the importance of spending time with fellow moms during the week. Being "cooped up with kids all day" can get to you--thanks the Lord for friends and neighbors! Great list--have a wonderful weekend!

I missed the Father's day picture too - but it was lovely all the same.

Lovely to have neighbours who are in the same boat. I remember really enjoying being in married student housing with other young moms - what a blessing!

Have a great weekend Suzanne!

I didn't take any photos of Father's Day...and didn't realise it until now you said you didn't either! D'oh!

I loved your 5, and put mine up too.

Ahhh all the luxuries of summer, nothing beats it. We haven't grown tomatoes in a couple of years and what I miss the most about that is the homemade salsa. Yummy!!

Congratulatioms on your little yellow flowers. :-)

I loved reading your fave 5 today (even though it's Monday now!) ;) and I have to agree with drinking something cool outside with a book. I think I may just have to do that myself in a few moments! :)

Thanks again for your prayers, Susanne...
