Friday's Fave Five #23

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five. Come join us as we reflect back on our week and pick our five favorite things from the week. If you're new all the info is here. If you've done a post on your favorite five don't forget to sign Mr. Linky so that we can come and visit.

So my faves for the week:

1. Fresh Paint. It always amazes me how much of a lift a fresh coat of paint on tired old wall and trim makes. Hubby is redoing the spare bedroom and the hallway. Both were begging for someone to grab a brush and go for it. Hubby obliged and it's looking so much better. My only problem is it takes me forever to choose a color.

2. Baby Sounds. I've got a new one year old in the dayhome and he keeps me laughing with all the funny baby noises and "talking" that he does. So cute. And the more you laugh, of course, the more he does it. Nothing like an appreciative audience for him.

3. Bottle time. I just love giving a baby a bottle right before nap time time. Even though the little ones are no longer mine there is something about sitting in the rocker holding that precious bundle while they drink away and they're eyes get sleepier and sleepier. Just stroking their cute little feet or hands. It's definitely a precious moment.

4. Greek Feta Salad Dressing. For some reason we haven't had a fresh salad in awhile. Not sure why, but we had some this week. I used my fave dressing. I love, love, love this stuff. On salads, as a dip, on baked potatoes. Yum, yum.

5. God's Promises. Oh the comfort that comes the word of God. This week, with the things that have gone on here, I've been drawn back to these two scriptures:

*1 Peter 5:6-7 "humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you."

and

*Philippians 4, 6-7 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Do not be anxious about anythingk, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will gurad your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

It's so nice to look back and find those treasures, both obvious and hidden, glaring and subtle that have blessed us this week. What are your favorites that you found?

  1. Oh yay! I'm first!

I love holding my little new boy and watching him fall asleep in my arms. What a wonderful grandma moment.

Thanks for sharing those promises! I needed to read them again and again!

  3. It is amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do. :)
And God's promises are always something to be thankful for.
I am a salad girl in the summer and a soup girl in the winter.....so I have not had a good salad for awhile either.:)
    Happy Friday!

  4. The little ones you care for--and their parents--are very, very lucky to have YOU! It's so wonderful to hear your love for what you do spill out in your written word!
We've been here for four years--and we need to paint a couple of the rooms! First, our painters weren't too hot and second we are just ROUGH on the place, I guess!
It's so wonderful to be able to have the words of the Lord to pick us up, reassure us and give us comfort!
    Thanks for another FFF!!! Dana

  6. Congratulations on your freshly painted walls and trim. Most of our rooms could use a new coat, but that's not in my near future, so I'll just rejoice with you!

The dressing sounds great. We keep crumbled feta in the fridge to sprinkle on our salads, so your favorite topping would be right up our alley.

Enjoy your borrowed babies! They are so, so sweet.

  7. Good morning Susanne! That salad dressing looks good. Have never seen that brand down here. Fresh paint is so much fun. It's been years since I gave a baby a bottle. :0) Love the verses that brought you comfort this week. Blessings on you and yours! Have a great weekend.

  8. I love a freshly painted room. Like you, choosing a color is the hardest and and longest part of the process for me.

It's been ages since I heard those little baby sounds or gave anyone a bottle. I can't wait for grandchildren!!

Those promises are two that I come back to frequently.

    Happy Friday!

  10. Your 5 are some of my faves, too! Well, except for the Feta Dressing, I've never tried that.

I love so much the scripture about the Lord caring for us. Precious!

  11. I'm finally joining you after many times of promising!

I loved feeding babies too, especially right before they drifted off to sleep. Precious times.

Thanks for sharing your list, Susanne. As always, a lovely inspiration.

  12. I had the opportunity to rock a little one to sleep just this last week and it was heavenly. You're right... nothing quite like it.

A fresh promise I found just this week is Ps. 51:6 " Surely You desire truth in the inner parts; You teach me wisdom in the inmost place."

Praying and reminding God of this promise to me... wisdom and truth in the depths of my being.

    Happy weekend friend!

  13. Those baby sounds and feeding times would be my favourites too - a good chance to have a little break as well.

Roger and I have been enjoying salad this week too - a change from root veggies. I'm going to get groceries and I think I'll give your dressing a try.

Two wonderful promises - thanks for sharing Suzanne.

    Have a great weekend!

  15. Awesome list! I'm so happy to have my basement painted too. What a difference it makes even if we did get it all painted, hated the color and had to paint it all over again. Picking paint is so stressful!!

I am totally missing that baby stage...sweet moments. Mine doesn't snuggle too much anymore :(

  16. I really like the verses you list here!
AWesome list as usual! That dressing sounds wonderful. I too was craving a salad this week so it's on the menu for tonite. My list is now up so come on over!

  17. #1 Picking paint colors paralyzes me. Every wall in our house is the same color (Sandcastle) and gets repainted the same color (Sandcastle) because I'm just boring that way. (Sandcastle)

Love, love, love Greek Feta Salad dressing. And baby sounds. And sleeping babies. God's promises are THE BEST!

So, what color did you decide to go with??

  20. Hmmm ... I need to do some painting around here sometime soon. It took me a while, but I finally managed to put together a list of Five Fave's for the first time today at Small Reflections.
