Friday's Fave Five #467

Well it's February already, so much going on in this short month.  It's also Friday so let's take a pause and take note of the blessings that came our way in the last week of January.  Please join in sharing 5 of those favorites.

~quote~  Love the wording of this quote by Max Lucado and the image it puts in my mind.  I think it's from his new book "Anxious for Nothing".

"We can wear our hurt or wear our hope. We can outfit ourselves in our misfortune, or we can clothe ourselves in God's providence. We can cave in to the pandemonium of life, or we can lean into the perfect plan of God."

~birthday celebrations~  On Friday my son turned 26.  Wow, can't believe I just typed that.  We celebrated with his favorite meal at his request:  my soft tacos.  He's requested these for practically every birthday since he was a kid.  We even offered to take take him a dinner out but nope, tacos it was.  And of course, his favorite cake, fruit flan had to make an appearance.  Happy Birthday, Son!  You've become a wonderful young man we are so proud of!

~favorite restaurant dish made at home~  Our family love The Old Spaghetti Factory restaurants.  Unfortunately, or possibly fortunately for our waistlines, there isn't one here and we try to take it in when we go to Calgary.  All of us especially love the Spaghetti with Browned Butter and Mizithra Cheese.  Very unique and very delicious.  The cheese is very hard to find but the above mentioned son found it at a cheese shop in the city he lives in and bought his dad a chunk of it for Christmas.  Hubby was very nice to share and we had a lovely meal of it at home without having to travel 2 hours.  A real treat.

~lunch out with a friend~  My friend took me for brunch this Saturday to celebrate my belated birthday.  I haven't had lunch out with a friend in what seems like forever.  Though I see her often at church, and we go out with our spouses for couples nights, it has been a long while since I've just had time with her as my friend.  It was great to catch up and enjoy each other's company.  And I love brunch food so it was a blessing all the way around.

~Black Cherry Merlot fragrance items~  I'm loving this scent from Bath and Body Works in everything from hand sanitizer to hand soap and lotion to candles.  I find this one is not overpowering but is just nice.

What have been your favorite blessings from this last week?

I so much wanted to like that scent black cherry merlot but ick......that was one that made my eyes water!! In fact i really can't handle any of their candles anymore other than the balsam one! Not sure why. My fave shower gel and body spray/lotion from them is the White Citrus. And the lemon kitchen hand soap....love those!

Happy birthday to your handsome son!!

I love going to brunch with a friend....been far too long for me too!!

Happy weekend!

What a nice way to celebrate your son's birthday. The cake looks yummy. And catching up with friends is always good. Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for sharing that quote! Happy belated birthday to your son! My youngest has requested the same home-made dish and cake for his birthday for years, too (hamburger stroganoff and lemon cake. We always had the tradition that the birthday honoree got to choose dinner, whether at home or out. When they were little they often chose out, but now that I think about it, as adults they usually choose homemade. I always choose out, though, for mine! :-)

I'll have to check and see if they have that restaurant here - I don't think so. Neat that you could have a favorite dish from there at home and that your son found the particular cheese for it!

I enjoyed lunch with a fiend this week, too, one that I hadn't seen in person for a few months. Always a fun time to have one-on-one, in person fellowship. I love brunch foods, too!

Oh, I'm a big big fan of Max Lucado. (You might have heard me say that a time or a hundred.)

Your son and my middle daughter are the same age. It is so weird to think about. I think of my children as young teens although they are all in young adulthood now. Letting go is hard ...

You always have the best recommendations on teas, coffees and candles!]

Thanks for sharing!

Love the quote! A very happy birthday to your son. That's so sweet that he knows his favorites and wants them on his special day. Lot's of good food talk on this post and I love food!

I like the thought of wearing my hope. Good reminder!
Happy Birthday to your boy!!
Oh, I remember the Spaghetti Factory mizithra cheese dish! So yummy! Your hubby was truly generous to share that cheese.
Have a great weekend!

Roomie was juuuust remembering how much she liked that very same Old Spaghetti Factory dish. Mizithra is easier to find in my grocery stores and it’s especially nice that it lasts in the fridge. We have the restaurant right in our town, but since going gluten-free, I haven’t darkened their doors in quite some time.

What? You didn’t share your chicken taco recipe?! Love love tacos of any sort. Happy birthday to your mid-twenties son (!) and belated good wishes for your birthday!

I love the quote, and copied it on a sticky note to put on my computer.

Happy Birthday to your handsome son! Nothing like a favorite meal cooked by mom:)

An Olde Spaghetti Factory just opened nearby, and there's one in Denver which isn't very far away from us. I don't think I'd been there since high school -- and that's a looooong time ago. We went a couple weeks ago and it was packed. Such good food!

I'm running behind this week, so I may not get to my fave five. I sure enjoy reading yours. Glad you had a good week!
