Friday's Fave Five #360 The first of 2016

Gosh, I totally cannot believe I forgot to get up the Friday's Fave Five post.  The fact that it is Friday totally escaped me due to the craziness and difficulty of the week.  Not a great way to start off the FFF year, but I'm on it now!  Welcome to a brand new year of looking for blessings in this life we are given!

This has been a tough week all around in the Living to Tell Household with the death of our beloved cat of almost 19 years, my good friend having major surgery and the first days after Christmas holidays back to work.  Our kitty is sorely missed and tears catch us all by surprise at the most inopportune times.  But this is also the perfect time for me to focus on the blessings of the week which might otherwise slip by if I did not have this discipline to help me along.  So here was the good stuff.

1.  A very compassionate vet to help us through the difficulty.  So thankful and grateful for Dr. Penny.

2.  Freshly falling snow making everything white and lovely.  Even though it is cold it is beautiful and I'm thankful I can see and experience all four seasons here in Southern Alberta.

3.  Fairly easy transition back to work.  Sometimes when there is extended time off from childcare the kids have a really hard time getting back to coming daily and back to routine.  Heck, I have a hard time!!!  Except for a couple of hiccups it transitioned relatively easily and I'm very grateful for that.

4.  Water with meyer lemons.  I'm needing to get back to drinking lots of water.  Christmas holidays found me drinking crazy amounts of coffee throughout the day because I didn't have to worry about not getting to sleep on time and about being up by a certain early morning hour.  But now I'm back at work and I really need to get back to a reasonable couple cups in the morning and that's it.  I've never had meyer lemons before but I'm finding I really like it squeezed into my water and I've got a whole jug full ready to pour at any time awaiting me in the fridge.  Now hopefully, it will miracously help me get off the sugar kick I put myself into at Christmas.  A girl can hope.

5.  This video totally had me cracking up.

What were your favourite things for the first week of 2016?

I saw your post last night about your kitty. I'm so sorry. It is so hard to lose beloved pets. I'm glad you have a great vet--most vets are people who simply like animals and don't want them to suffer any more than we do.
Meyer lemons---yes! they're great (you can thank California and maybe even my county for them!).
Isn't it great to be great with FFF? Thanks again for hosting.

That video was so funny! I'm glad everyone transitioned back to the routine fairly well. I had never even heard of meyer lemons. I'm so sorry about your cat. It was so nice to have a good vet going through it with you.

aw....I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved cat. Yay for good vets!

I LOVE Meyer lemons and can only get them at Fresh Market or Whole foods so i dont get them often. I love drinking water and coffee but def need more water in the winter as i tend to just drink coffee or tea in the colder months. Maybe i will keep lemon water in a pitcher rather than adding them to my glass after using the Brita. good idea susanne!!

have a happy weekend!!

That video is hilarious. I'm trying to drink more water too, and adding lemons sounds like a good idea.

It's so nice to be doing FFF again:)

Hi Susanne~ I am trying to get back into more healthy routines too. Like you, I am trying to drink more water and stay away from the sugar. I am looking to getting back to my walking routine when this silly walking cast comes off my foot. Enjoy your weekend.

So sorry about your cat. Pets are like family. I understand completely.
I bought a 40 ounce Yeti cup to help me with water intake daily. It works!
Have a good weekend!!

Glad your transition back to the routine hasn't been too traumatic (except that your beloved feline isn't with you). I have a co-worker who just brought in a bag of Meyer lemons to share and that's been absolutely lovely (my lemon tree went on strike this season). I'll have to try your lemon-water trick ;-)
