Friday's Fave Five #196

UPDATED WITH THE LINKY!  Sorry guys, must have been asleep at the wheel.  Linky is up now.

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five!  Join us as we look over the week and find some thing to be thankful for.  Never done a FFF before?  You can pop on over here for a minute and take a peek at the guidelines and then just jump on board.  We're always glad to meet someone new!

1.  Anniversary Date with my hubby.  We went to the Keg for supper.  Our steaks:  mouthwatering and cooked perfectly to the way we ordered. ( I had the Sirloin Oscar and hubby Rib Steak)  Dessert:   absolutely yummy.  The company:  perfect!

2.  Coleslaw with Fuji Apple Vinegarette.  Father's Day found me with a bag of coleslaw and no dressing.  I had forgotten to buy it.  And then I remembered that I had this dressing and thought it might work.  Wow, did it ever!  It was so fresh tasting and a really nice change from the usual creamy kind of dressing I always buy.

3.  Quote:  "Prayer is a work to which we must commit ourselves if we are to make sense of our lives in the light of eternity."   -Terry Glaspey quoted in Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas pg. 74.  Isn't that the truth.

4.  Grace to get through a really busy, overwhelming day.  It was a tough one but all throughout the day there were little graces that kept me going and got me to the end of the day.  Praise God for those little graces.

5.  Sunny Days.  Finally some nice days with soothing, warm sunshine.  All of us, including my flowers, have been crying out  for the sunshine.  No more clouds and thunderstorms, thank you very much.

What have been your favorite blessings this week?

Mmmm, your anniversary celebration sounds wonderful. 29 years is something to celebrate indeed! I so appreciate the glue that holds us together from day to day: prayer and grace.

Happy Anniversary and wow!! i checked out the menu at The Keg....YUMMY!!!!! That would be a fave for Dave and I as well! :) Love the sun although here in NY we could use a good thunderstorm right about now to break this awful high humidity and temps (we had 96 F yesterday...UGH!!) That quote is a good one but how do you like Sacred Marriage?? I have tried to read it TWICE and just couldn't get into it. I do LOVE his book SacredPathways and go back again and again for that one. It's funny you put a quote cause I did too! Happy weekend, Susanne!!

That sounds like a perfect anniversary date to me! I love steak. I've heard our boys talk about the Keg but we don't have one here on the Island. But there are rumours that we're getting a Montana - I hope it's good too!

Summer sunshine - we've had a wonderful stretch of it - so many days that we actually need rain. And apparently we're getting some this weekend.

What a great idea to add that vinegarette to cloeslaw - I'm going to try it too.

Thankful for the little graces that keep us going too!

Hope you have a restful, fun weekend Susanne!

PS. I just saw you are reading Sacred Marriage. What do you think. I have it on my shelf...

Faith and Annette: I'm really liking Sacred Marriage. It took a couple of chapters to get into it but then it just took off with so much good stuff. Very convicting and encouraging at the same time and much to think about for sure.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! Ours in coming up, too. (Have to look for that dressing. Looks awesome.)

Love that quote, and I'm forever noticing those little graces, too. Lord, keep my eyes open to them in the tough times.

Glad you're having sunshine! Have a great week.

Congratulations on 29 years! Your dinner out sounds wonderful.

I love your quote. I'm afraid that committing regularly to prayer is something we just don't do enough. Thanks for the challenge.

Glad you are getting your sunny days. My part of the world could use some rain ... maybe the rain that has been plaguing you will head my way.

I love Lighthouse dressings. I haven't tried that one yet because I wasn't quite sure how to pair it with something. You've given me some ideas now! ;D

Glad you had a great anniversary date!

Happy weekend to you! (HURRAY!)

You asked about Ethiopian dishes. You can never go wrong with any of the lentil dishes-mmmmm! Also the cooked greens are great. Everything is served on a huge injera (like a cross between a very flat pita and a crepe. At least where we eat, that's how it's served--little piles of different dishes on the injera, served family style. The flavors are just marvelous.

Now I am craving more Ethiopian food!!
