Menu Plan Monday

After falling off the menu planning wagon yet again last year, I'm trying to heave myself back on this January.  All part of the "Purposefully" word of the year.  I'm thinking when I'm constantly scrambling on what to cook it is not pursuing the Purposefully thing.  So here's my first attempt of the year.

Monday:  Sausages, eggs, potato pancakes,

Tuesday:  Lentil Soup, biscuits

Wednesday:  Chicken Stir Fry, rice

Thursday:  Firecracker chicken, baked potato, bean mix

Friday:  Hot dogs, fries, coleslaw

Saturday:  Hungarian Goulash

Sunday:  Crockpot maple ham, scalloped potatoes, gingered carrots

It really does help keep everything on track, doesn't it? Unfortunately, it also takes me forever to plan, I still think it's worth it though when I don't have to stop and think about 'what's for dinner'.

I planned about 14 days before shopping for groceries on Friday. It does help to have a menu posted where one can see it...I don't put mine under certain days, still decide on which one is going to be today....some meals have to come before others in order to have leftovers for the next one. I bought a rotisserie chicken which we ate some of Friday night. The rest will go in a pot pie and there's leftover cornbread which will go in tamale balls.

Now that's putting your Purposeful goal into practice! I do some rough meal planning but always leave room (and have various foods) for changing my mind at the last minute. But having fewer to cook for does make things easier.

Hi Susanne, Happy New Year!
I'm trying to do the menu planning thing too this year. It's going good for this first week.
