Friday's Fave Five #107

1. A dayhome parent who thinks of me in her day and brought me a surprise when she picked up her little girl. I cannot tell you how it makes my heart melt to know the parent appreciates me in their children's lives. That is one of the things that makes my job oh, so, worthwhile, and why I'm still doing it after 20 years.

2. The chocolate covered cream puff this parent brought me when she picked up her little one. From a dutch bakery. Need I say more? Sorry no picture. It was just inhaled eaten right away, as soon as I waved goodbye. It was the best chocolate covered cream puff I've ever had.

3. First Press Maple Syrup. Oh. my. word. This stuff comes from a family farm and is hand bottled right out of the first evaporator, is organic and even has the year on the label. And it is sooooooooo good. I had to resist pouring into a small cup and just drinking it. LOL. But then I had the wild idea of pouring it over softened vanilla ice cream and adding chopped walnuts. I am rendered speechless. Which you know is a small miracle.

4. Almost immediate help on the Blogger Help page forum. A little invitation to try the editing in Blogger came up and I pushed the try it button. No acceptance button came up and the next thing I knew the whole posting page was different. Ugh. I did not like it at all. But no button to take you back. As is usual when it comes to blogging mistakes my first reaction was to panic for about an hour until it occured to me to go to the Blogger Helps page and find a "contact us" button. But that button just took me to a "post a question" type of page. More panic for a few minutes. So I posted the question and within the hour some one replied with an answer and it worked. Yipee!

If this happens to you, let me know, I'll email the solution to ya. 'Cause now I know, thanks to the quick reply of the person who helped me.

5. A good, tear inducing, full belly laugh with Younger Girl. If I wrote it all out something would be lost in the translation but I love it when it happens.

What are your favorites from the week? If you do a post, link on up and then enjoy a visit with the the other Fave Fiver's.

LOL, my Mom used to do this for us as kids... But then I had the wild idea of pouring it over softened vanilla ice cream and adding chopped walnuts. I am rendered speechless. Which you know is a small miracle. Only in Canada!

Thanks for hosting Suzanne!

Blessings, e-Mom

Obviously, you are one in a million when it comes to being a caregiver. It is a hard job, for sure, but judging by the way your parents respond to you, I'm thinking you deserve a medal as 'Caregiver of the year'.

A tear inducing laugh is one of life's greatest gifts!

REAL maple syrup.....yummy -esp. over ice cream!

Sounds like a fabulous week! The maple syrup and the cream puff both sound good beyond description!

And yes, isn't it wonderful to be appreciated?

It's 5 PM here and I haven't had lunch: maple syrup and chopped walnuts -- I just wanna get out of this office soon!

The perks of your job are wonderful. A full belly laugh? always a winner.

Happy Friday Susanne.

oh I just love your list this week! Awesome to laugh with a child and I am JEALOUS of your maple syrup!!! My mom used to serve vanilla ice cream that way and now my oldest daughter LOVES her ice cream with maple syrup. As for me.....I'm with you..I could drink it right out of a cup! I haven't known many people to pour maple syrup over vanilla ice cream but in Central NY we sure did...maybe cause some of my French ancestors came down thru Canada??
Now i gotta go put that on my shopping list! (only mine will be from vermont most likely :) )

Love those belly laughs. Nothing like 'em. You're making me hungry with all your delicious treats this week. Yummy. Glad you got great customer service from Blogger. I had a small panic this week when I accidentally ordered a $10 Kindle book that I thought was free. But less than one minute (honest!) after I found the "contact us" button on Amazon, they wrote me back and refunded my money. I was thrilled with their service.

Have a great weekend!

The first time in my life I ate Maple syrup was when we visited my aunt in Madison/Wisc in 1971. We went on trip to Yellowstone Park and Mount Rushmore and other things and each morning I ate a stuck of pancakes with Maple syrup ! The funniest thing is when I tried to eat that at home in Belgium, it didn't have the same taste although it was the same syrup, lol !
Holiday plates taste different at home apparently !

What a sweet list -- in more ways than one! That was so neat that your dayhome parent thought of you in that way. And a chocolate covered cream puff! I'm drooling!

I know what you mean about some of those fun times that would just lose something in trying to explain it, but they are so much fun and so special.

I have been frustrated, too, when trying to reaching a help section only to arrive at a discussion forum, but I have been amazed at people there so willing to help. Glad you got some timely answers. I am dreading my first computer crisis since Jeremy moved away -- he has been my personal IT guy!

I did the 8 questions meme yesterday, Thanks for tagging me!

Maple syrup tastes so yummy in the fall, I wish I could get some of that yummy stuff you have! And its so nice of that parent to think of you and then express it in a tangible way. Belly laughs are the best! So cleansing.

You had me at fresh maple syrup, but then pouring over ice cream? Oh my stars that sounds divine!!!

Thanks for hosting for us!

Oh how I LOVE those laugh moments too! They have been far too few in my family of late... I can't wait for this "season" to pass so I can hear them and FEEL them again!

Maple syrup on ice cream... MMMMMM! I am a super syrup fanatic - which is why I almost NEVER eat it! But I would LOVE to try some of that!

Your day home mom's DO love you! And they are blessed to have you! (and they know it!)

Hey, I love to laugh! Belly laughs are definitely a favorite of mine, too.

I'm so glad that your dayhome parents appreciate you!

I am glad, then, that I didn't press that button! I get so paniky! I use to try and surprise my daycare mom during the months! So much fun! Have a great week!

I think your dayhome parents are very blessed to have you looking after their little ones - I'm glad they take time to show their appreciation.

I'm adding maple syrup to the grocery list. I've never seen First Press but I'll keep an eye out for it.

I had lots of belly laughs with the kids this week too - it's sweet!

Glad you got your blogger help - it can be so frustrating! Squarespace service is awesome.

Thanks for hosting Suzanne - hope you have a relaxing weekend!

It looks like we've both had blogger issues...It's not fun, as you said, moments of panic turns into hours and now days..I quickly switched back to the old system...but it does not agree anymore with me.
I'm glad you discovered the problems, I will need to follow your advice. Thank-you

Oooh, maple syrup just SCREAMS Fall to me!

I'm on the run -- just held a baby for three hours straight -- but thought I'd check in and say hi.

Love that belly laugh with your daughter!

Have a great week!

For some reason I suddenly have a craving for something deliciously sweet Susanne!

Oh "K" sugar rush here with the first brewed maple syrup poured over snow, hot and melted up to taffy. Oh opppps I was off on my own for a minute.

Only the best for chocolate covered cream puffs, they just don't get given to anyone. Lucky you, "inhaled" how lady like is that? Later I'm going to find a dutch bakery.

Loved your list. Signed up to try this as well... bear with me. I accidentally signed up with Mr. Blinky with my home page, so I went back and changed it. Feel free to delete the first one. Thanks for doing this and for the awesome reminders of things to be thankful for! =)

Try your maple syrup in your coffee, it is so good that way!!
Good you recieved an answer on your blogger question right away. I should send them a query on a problem I have suddenly started having. A good belly laugh burns calories, works muscles and tones the frown lines. Its the best exercise!!

It looks like your dayhome parents KNOW that they are blessed to have you as a caretaker for their children. I'm glad you got such a "sweet" compliment for it. That maple syrup sounds delicious served on ice cream.
A compliment, a little bit of help when you need it and a good laugh, who needs anything more? I hope your weekend was just as good as your week was!
