Friday's Fave Five #104

Hi and welcome everyone! It's Friday so that means it's time to look over the last week and look for those things that were blessings in our lives. Whether it was a great week or not, it's a good thing to look for those little things that brought some sunshine into our daily lives. If you need details you can go here first and then just join in!
So here are mine for the last week:

1. A new perfume. When I was visiting my older girl a couple weeks ago, I went to the neighborhood drug store to grab some coffee and a few other things and while there I just had to check their "On Sale" perfume section. And found this: DKNY Be Delicious Caramel Apple. Now as a teen I loved green apple fragrances, but now as an adult it is a total departure from what I usually wear. (But seeing those two cost an arm and a leg and one's first born I use them very sparingly.) Anyway, this was sitting on the sale counter and remembering I loved the green apple in former years, I gave it a try. Not too bad. Definitely smell green apple and even more so, definitely pear (a scent I love), some flowery stuff in the middle notes and ending with a hint of caramel and vanilla. A lot sweeter than my norm but something light, summery and fun for everyday so I nabbed it.

2. The deal I scored on above perfume. Regularly about $60 dollars I got it for $20 plus a bunch of points on my customer card. I love a good deal. Now if they would just put my two favorites mentioned above on that clearance table once in awhile I'd be forever grateful.

3. Another apple. Apple Crisp. Apple season brings out my favorite dessert: apple crisp. Hot from the oven with vanilla ice cream melting all over it. Yummy! I have to watch it though or I can eat the whole darn pan by myself!

4. Cobb Salad. Specifically a Ricky's Signature Cobb Salad. Turkey, ham, three-cheese blend, roasted artichokes, cucumbers, tomatoes, bacon, and guacamole ranch dressing on a bed of lettuce. It looks wonderful on the plate all lined up so nice and it tastes even better. Oh my word. I love this for lunch. The only thing missing on Ricky's cobb is the chopped hard boiled eggs and avacadoes that you usually find on other cobb salads. But the roasted artichokes they put on theirs with the guacamole dressing makes up for that big time. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

5. Furniture polish. Sort of a crazy one, but I just love sitting in a room with furniture that has just been polished and is all shiny and nice and the whole room smells good. I think it must be a trigger from my childhood. It evokes thoughts of home and my mom and security. Funny how that works.

What are your favorites from your lives this week? Do a post and then come back and link that post so we can come and visit with you!

This is my first time to link up after reading Friday's Fave Five posts from two friends for months.

Nice way to reflect on the past week and give things their due share of thought and gratitude.

Thanks for hosting this!

I am not a fan of parfums anymore. Not even eau de toilette.

A new perfume which was a great deal as well, you're one lucky girl! I love the scent of furniture wax too, it's so comforting and homely, that's right! Have a wonderful Friday followed by a great weekend!

Love green apple scent too!

I've noticed the apples in the stores - I'll have to get some and make a crisp. I think it's my favourite dessert.

Hope you have a great weekend Suzanne!

Reading your post is making me hungry :). We love Apple Crisp here, too. That cobb salad sounds delicious.

Have a blessed weekend!

Oh, I love apple crisp! And that perfume sounds lovely, especially since it was such a great deal -- half the fun.

Memories, memories...I wrote about them too, in my Fave Five.

Have a great weekend, Susanne!

Yum.. Apple crisp has to be an all time favourite in our family. My daughter makes it all the time, my brother had it for dessert at his wedding(mom's recipe) and at this time of year we can make lots of it.

I love your FFF this week, the apple perfume bottle is so cute, as I read your post I could smell apples...

The furniture polish took me back. It must be a childhood memory that takes us back to furniture polish - mine is mom used this stuff all the time. Yes the smell of the room is great however she would spray it directly on the furniture and the spray went past onto the linoleum floors where my brother and I would sock slide for days after. Thanks for the reminder. Have a great weekend

There's nothing like finding a good deal on something you love. Polished furniture too, shiny and clean is always nice. The roasted artichoke makes me fancy a search for that here. Happy weekend!

What a great deal! I can't wear perfumes, but I can appreciate the good buy and your enjoyment of it.

I am not sure I have ever used furniture polish. I've noticed as we've been unpacking and arranging furniture that some of it is looking very worn. I should try some and see if it spiffs it up.

I find it hard to find perfumes that I like to wear - good for you that you tried something new! And good for you on the price!

I love the smell of furniture polish, too. Too bad that smell has been missing at my house lately! (You have to stay home to polish furniture ...)

I was given a bunch of apples. Normally I'd make apple crisp, but I have a new apple pie recipe to try. Maybe I'll write about it on next week's FFF.

Susanne! your list made me smile...I used to have green apple shampoo as a teen but now as an adult I cannot stand the smell of green apple...it's odd because i ALWAYS loved it. Now I am more into honeysuckle....it's so weird!
LOVE a good Cobb salad....yummy.....and yeah for apple season! ENJOY your weekend....I have my post up a little early as we head out tomorrow and I have stuff to get done today.

It IS funny how those smells work... the one that takes me back to my childhood is steam ironing cotton sheets -- which I don't do! LOL! But when Mom first came to live here and was still capable of doing things, ironing was something she enjoyed - and I gave her some old cotton sheets (in case she ironed one spot too long!) and I noticed right away that SMELL took me 'home'.

I don't generally use perfume if I'm going out because too many people are sensitive to it -- but I DO like to wear it around the house! Mine are not "too" expensive... Red Door and 5th Avenue... and then I do have a bottle of CHEAP stuff a friend gave me two years ago - I LOVE it - but I've never seen it in a store!

Score on the perfume! I have found myself reaching for more of the "adult" scents now that the cooler weather is here instead of the light summery ones. I am so happy to see the seasons change, I enjoy it every time it happens!

Well, you are making me interested in eating apples and that's a good thing today! =D So I suppose I should thank you!

Congrats on your great deal!

That Cobb salad sounds delicious! Salads are an effort to make so I enjoy them when I go out.

I love wearing perfume and have some beautiful ones, but it seems that so many people are allergic so I am afraid to wear them now.

Holey moley! That cobb salad sounds wonderful! I love artichokes in salads! (They're great on pizza too) Isn't autumn great for all the apples?

Thanks as always for hosting this, Susanne! Have a great weekend. Sit and smile at the shiny furniture for a while.

Man, have you got me in the mood for a good cobb!

Thanks for your sweet note on my blog the other day, Susanne. It prompted me to think about returning a little sooner.

Enjoy your weekend and new perfume :-)

MMMM....apple crisp and vanilla ice cream. Nothing says fall like that!

a new perfume is always nice.

Salads are always one of my favorites.

Hope you have a great long weekend!

The cobb salad sounds so delicious. Roasted artichokes -- yum.

New perfume is such a treat, isn't it? And especially for such a great deal. One of my favs is Chanel 19. One of my favorite "Santa gifts".

I love reading about how everyone is getting into Fall. Apple crisp is definitely a good one!

Apple Crisp reminds me of my mom and Cobb Salad of my sister. Although perfumes tend to generate allergies in me, I do love bargains ;-)

Done my Fave Five! I just LOVE that DKNY perfume. A friend sent me some as a gift because I like those neat combos that are not the same as usual perfumes I wear (Ici, Lady Stetson). My newest fave brings out the kid in me: my mom sent me Forever Neverland for Christmas and I ADORE it...it is also inexpensive so I let my two young daughters wear it, as well.

Apple crisp! Yummy. The Cobb Salad sounds good, too. I don't care for blue cheese dressing but the dressing on your salad sounds just right. What a great deal on the perfume. The apple, pear, and caramel sound like a great combination of scents.

A million years ago (or so it seems) I launched an Green Apple shampoo for Alberto VO5. Then managed fragrances for some quite large cosmetics houses. Great fun. I really believe that a fine fragrance needs a fine (not expensive!) bottle. These shown in my short blog are locally hand made and superb - http://blog.sidestreetstudio.com/glass/why-you-need-a-fine-perfume-bottle/

what a great deal for the perfume.
And the salad sounds really yummy and so does the apple crisp.
Isn't it funny how certain smells evoke certain times and thoughts in our lives.
Lovely week.
