Friday's Fave Five #81

Happy Easter everybody! I know it's Good Friday today and a lot of you won't be on today so feel free to just jump in anytime over the weekend if you would like.
1. "For God so loved the world, that He gave us His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 NIV One of my favorite scriptures and one that Easter brings us face to face with. This is what Easter was and is all about. Bottom line. God did it, gave up His one and only Son to redeem mankind back, because He loves us that much. And it's for all of us, whoever of us would believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. As simple as that.
2. Catelli Smart Pasta. In our effort to eat somewhat healthier we have been eating more of the Healthy Harvest Whole Grain pasta but sometimes for some dishes the taste is just too heavy, and then I tried this pasta. Oh my goodness, it is sooo good. Doesn't have the heavy taste of whole grain pasta and yet has the same amount of fiber. And no sodium. I have to be cutting back on my sodium and this helps. It was yummy and very healthy. I made a great recipe with it that was easy and quick. I'll post it next Monday or Tuesday.
3. Greek food. I tried Greek food at a Mediteranean restaurant for the first time in my life this last week. Very delicious. It was at the one and only little Greek restaurant they have in town. They had a platter for two that had all sorts of different items in it. I think my favorite was the yummy pillow of phyllo dough that had a mix of cream cheese, parmesan and feta cheese in the middle that I can't remember the name of at the moment. That and the deep fried calamri dipped in tzatziki sauce. And drats, I forgot to take my camera!
4. Family time. So precious and sometimes so elusive in our busy days. As the kids grow the time is harder to get where we can all carve out that time with all our varied work and committement schedules but we try to really make a point of it. Of course, older girl now lives in another city so she is missing and we miss her dearly at these family nights, but I notice how quickly time seems to be going with the other two. My son will be graduating high school this year and youngest girl is 15. The time together with the two left at home is definitely worth it and precious. And they are lots of fun!
5. The first cup of coffee in the morning. I can't even tell you how much I love that first cup of hot coffee in the morning.
If you are joining in this week please link on up. Have a very happy, relaxing, refreshing Easter as we remember the death and celebrate the ressurection of Jesus Christ!

I love John 3:16 and family time. I enjoy Greek food, but not as much as Thai food :).

Have a blessed Resurrection Day!

I have never tried Greek food -- I have always wondered what it might be like.

The pasta sounds good! And family time does seem more precious the older the kids get.

Happy Easter to you and yours! He is risen indeed!

That first cup of coffee in the morning is pretty amazing. No other cup of the day compares to it :)

I love Greek food too, and that is usually what we eat at Easter, but this year will be a little different.

Because He lives!

Family time is so precious. Teens can be exasperating, but they can also be so wonderful.

Oh yes, to that first cup of coffee...talking about it almost makes me go for the second.

Happy Easter to you.

You know I don't drink coffee but there are many sleepy days where I think I should start :)

Have a wonderful Easter my friend!

Your number 5 - I have a hard time NOT putting that on my list EVERY week! And not even the whole cup... just those first few sips! Mmmmm...

I have heard other people say that the whole grain pasta tastes "different" or heavy or sOmething... but I never noticed it! I eat it all the time... that's all we buy anymore. But I'm glad you found this other that works sO well for you! ;)

GREEK is my favorite food!

And yes indeed! John 3:16! Have a very blessed and HAPPY Easter Susanne!

Ah that cup of coffee in the morning is always good! I do enjoy different types of Greek food. When I was a teen, there was a great Greek restaurant that my friends and I used to go to. That started my love for Greek food!
Happy Easter to you celebrating the Risen Christ!

He is risen indeed - hallelujah!

Thanks for sharing about the pasta. I love the whole wheat but my husband stubbornly refuses to eat it. This would be a great alternative.

And I sooo agree about coffee and it's in my Friday Fave as well. ;)

I'm standing out this week for Good Friday but I'll be back again next week.

Your list is great! I haven't tried Greek food yet but you make me want to. =)

I'm trying to remind myself that this time of toddlerhood will not last and so I should enjoy it while I can, rather than wishing them more independent. It FEELS like it lasts forever. So your remarks were much needed this morning!

Have a wonderful Easter!

Er, sitting out. Standing down. You know what I mean. =D

I've tried that Pasta...it is good and takes away the 'whining' that some folks I cook for do when I serve whole wheat pasta. What they don't know is sometimes just as healthy for them. I do like the taste of WW pasta most of the time, though.

The few times I've had Greek food I've totally enjoyed it! The cheesy stuff in the phyllo dough is one of my faves, too...especially if it also has spinach in it.

These years when your kids are in their later teens are so busy! Good for you to make sure you have family time in the midst of it all. The time does go too fast.

Even though our kids are all grown, we also make the effort to have family days regularly - they are even more precious now that we do not at least live in the same house.

Have a wonderful Easter celebration, Susanne! Blessings.

I know what you mean about family time. My only child still at home is my 15-yr-old daughter, and even she is gone a lot. We have to grab those moments and enjoy them when we can, all we can.

Have a blessed Easter!

The first thing I have to say is, I love your new purse! Cute, cute.

Did a little bit of catching up here - I know how much you hated seing your daughter leave but I'm glad you had a nice long visit. It's ironic, yours just left and mine is arriving tomorrow.

Mandy will be here for a week and I can't wait - but I already dread the end of the week when she leaves.

Like you, I'm never going to get used to it.

Happy Easter, sweet friend. xo

I always make it a point to attend our local Greek Food Festival. Until recently, that was the only time I could get authentic Greek food. Fortunately, we now have two-three really good Greek restaurants available. I've even learned to make really good gyros...just not authentic, but really good. Enjoyed your blog.
