Wordless Wednesday

A thing of beauty, indeed.
My very first home grown tomato.

In the excitement I'm having a hard time leaving it on the vine to totally turn red.
I will be strong, I will be strong.

I LOVE seeing my fresh veggies on the vine! Don't leave the tomato too long or a bug or worm will spoil the excitement! :)

Oh yum. I can almost taste it! In the Spring I was disappointed that I wasn't able to get my garden in.

Now that fresh produce is coming forth I'm even more disappointed.

Next year...!

My family has always always raised tons of tomatoes, but my husband & I now live in the city with a cement pad for a backyard. . . no tomato plants. :-(
These pics make me a little homesick! There is nothing like a home-grown tomato!!!

Dont wait for it to turn red...it will be too late. Pick it now...let it sit in your window seal to finish..bugs or varmits might get it & you will be very sorry! Now pass the Bacon & lettuce please!

Congrats! I'm getting some now too, and lots of cherry tomatoes that I'm growing are coming out.
Enjoy your tomatoes!

No need to leave it on the vine unless you just want to. You may pick with the first blush of pink- sit it on the kitchen counter for further ripening-- with no sacrifice in taste. My life in and amongst master gardeners has taught me that when the tomato is blushing pink, it has all it needs to ripen with beautiful flavor. And your tomatoes are beautiful.
