On Life, Erratic Blogging and Institutions That Take One's Money But Don't Deliver The Goods

How's that for a title? But boy, looking back over my spring and summer, my blogging sure has turned a bit erratic. From someone who used to post basically daily, it's all over the board now. I think it's just the nature of the year we are experiencing. My head is filled with lots but nothing really I can blog about extensively. Personally, I'm in a decision making phase concerning my job. After almost 20 years of dayhoming, I'm feeling that that is coming to a close soon. Which is exciting and totally paralyzingly scary at the same time. So my head is a bit taken over with trying not to panic and trust God. But I can only take it one step, one day at a time, right? It's all about God's timing and having the faith to take the steps when they come. I'm the type of person who likes that kind of stuff organized and my ducks all lined up in a row, so uncertanity in this is hard for me. There's so many little nagging issues, mostly of what else I would do for a job, that constantly comes up to harass me. LOL. But it wouldn't be faith if it was never tested. We'd think we have faith but how would we know if we were never in a position to have to trust God in an unknown? Good thing He's a big God and knows my heart better than I know it myself.

Anyway, moving on. Look who came back to visit. I happened to glance out the window and here I see him trucking along the sidewalk and he came right up our lawn. I ran out to say hello while simultaneously yelling to Tia so that she could hear me from inside in her state of unconsciousness sleep. This time our friend had a collar and city license.

After a sleepy Tia got her fill of hugs and petting, I called the city to find the name of the owner. Lo and behold, they can't see that number in their computer. Say what? What is up with that? So the very nice lady tells me she'll phone the pound to see if he was licensed there because sometimes apparently, the pound is a little slow on the uptake and getting them logged in the computer, she says. So we're waiting and waiting. Doggy is getting restless to move on now that he's had a visit, and still no call. Finally the lady phones back to tell me the pound still hasn't called her back. She asked if I would like the pound to come pick up the dog. Well seeing how organized they were I said gave her a resounding "NO!". At which point I had to comment on what was the point of paying the city money to license your dog when at the point of needing them they didn't even have the darn license number in their computer. I am happy to say I kept my tone very polite. She was very nice after all and if it was the pound's fault why get her all defensive. But I felt I did have to comment on it.

In all the waiting our friend just felt the call to keep moving and off he went, the same as last time. Goodbye, Buddy. Thanks for coming by. All the best to ya.

And if you are wondering, it's now been 24 hours and we still haven't gotten a call back with the owner's name from the pound or the city. Arrrgh. Red tape institutions.

Finders Keepers, Loosers Weepers!

Well I can't imagine what you are dealing with at work, but I know that keeping positions is definitely a challenge.
Keep your blogging erratic. We all have those seasons and it's OK if we take some time...but don't give up Friday FAVE FIVE.

See you tomorrow.

Oh me oh My I feel excited for you closing your day home...why because I know all to well how wonderful it can be, but how much work it takes too! To work in your home with little ones is taxing! God will lead you my friend. Praying that He gives you peace and guides your steps:).

Aww, poor puppy. Hopefully he's safe and either home by now or enjoying his freedom.

I'm like you with needing my security and comfort. It's hard to make changes, isn't it? Especially when you don't know what's around the corner. I've been doing my work-from-home job for . . . 9 or 10 years? I'm getting a bit restless. But it gives me so much flexibility that I can't imagine finding something that works as well. I do get lonesome sometimes, though!

I can totally identify, Susanne, with wanting all the ducks in a row and wanting to know what's around the bend. We know our security is in the Lord and not in our circumstances -- but we sure feel better when He lets us in on it!

We had frustrations with our animal control people, too -- probably the least efficient of government branches which don't run on efficiency to begin with. In our city dogs are supposed to be behind a fence on on a leash at all times, but we had one little dog who kept escaping and coming into our yard and chewing up the newspaper, even pooping on it once. Must've had a traumatic paper-training experience as a puppy. We called a couple of times, and they even knew him by name, but said they couldn't do anything: we knocked on the owner's door and he denied that the dog had ever left the yard. Then another time we had some animal in our fireplace -- we have the kind with doors that shut and lock. The room the fireplace is in has three doors with only one that closes, so if an animal got out there would be no way to keep him contained in that room. I would have thought they'd bring two people in with one to open the door and one to be ready with a cage or net or something -- but only one lady comes and the first thing she does is throw the fireplace doors wide open -- if the animal had been right there it probably would have run out into the room and ended up who knows where. But she couldn't find him -- he had backed up in the chimney a little bit but couldn't get far enough up to get out. The lady left; the animal, which turned out to be a squirrel eventually died.

Anyway -- sorry to go one about our less than stellar animal control people -- but hope your friend finds his home ok. Apparently he did after his last visit so hopefully he will again.

I begin to wonder if anyone does their job properly any more Susanne (not you of course!). When we were kids we had a big German Shepherd who used to take off occasionally. Just about the time we had given up on ever seeing him again, he would come sauntering up our little country lane. Perhaps that sweet dog knows exactly where he's going and just stopped by to say hi.
Praying the Lord will give you peace and direction about your work.

This is why my cat has a microchip.

I think that dog knows where he lives- right there with you. They find the people who love them.

20 years is a long time to do the same thing, sounds like its time for "second career" :) I'll be praying that all works out well for you.

To have lasted 20 years in dayhoming is amazing. Let me repeat that: You are amazing. So if you want to explore something new, who could blame you.

That dog is so beautiful, but I wouldn't want to adopt him only to have him run away all the time. He's so pretty, though.

That's pretty upsetting that someone actually went to the time and expense to get their dog licensed and registered, only to have it be useless when that information is needed.

I think every last person out here totally understands the sporadic blogging. I certainly do. I imagine it will all pick up again this fall. Everyone seems to be of the same mindset right now.

I'm about to announce a huge change in my daily life. It's going to make it possible for me to start posting more often. I believe I may actually have some extra energy leftover at the end of the day.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you make this decision. You've been in the day home business for a long, long time. Sounds like you may be announcing a major change soon too. Whatever you decide, I know it will be for the best.

If life didn't change, it would get awfully boring, right? xoxo

I recently had a similar job decision to make. I blogged it yesterday after thinking for a long time I wouldn't blog it at all. I was going to take it down this morning, until I read yours here. I see that I am not the only one who has chosen to trust God in giving something up for what is coming next- the unknown mostly.

Thanks for the timely post.

I certainly understand erratic blogging. I've kind of slacked down in the main area of blogging that I felt called to do when I started: sharing what insights God sends my way. I do some of that in the memes I participate in, but I need to do that more fully in separate posts.

I understand too about changing careers. It can be very exciting when God moves you into something else, but also very scary. When I came to the job I have now, I cried every day for about 3 months because I was homesick for my old job!

Just a gentle reminder, it's Friday. You are going to continue with Friday's Faves, aren't you?
