Friday's Fave Five #19

Hello and welcome! I'm so glad to have you here to join me in Fave Five. If you're new, take a moment and click over here for details.

I'm so glad for Fave Five this week. It's been so hectic with a new baby starting in dayhome and something going on every single night. I've not slowed down for a minute all week, but this allowed me to take the time to look at those little things that made me smile.

1. Digital picture frames. Oh how I have fallen in love with these. My hubby got me one for Christmas and we finally got it up and running this week. And do I ever enjoy it. My fireplace always looked so cluttered with all the pictures and frames up there and now it's one frame but unlimited pictures.

2. Candles. I've really been enjoying all the various scented candles that people, including my Tia, gave me for Christmas. Everything from Christmas Wreath scent, Apples and Cinnamon and Midnight Pomegranate (one of my favorite scents from Bath and Body Works). Yum. So nice. And yes, I'm very careful when burning candles, making sure to put them out if I start to feel sleepy! :v)

3. Warm socks. I love my nice warm toasty socks. Especially this last few weeks. We've been in a deep freeze with tons of snow. I was especially happy to have them on my feet when we had to dig my sister's car out of getting stuck in the snow. The rest of me was a frozen ice cube but my toes were toasty and fine.

4. Going to my ladies study group. My favorite thing from this week was meeting with these ladies this week. We are a small group with very varied personalities and backgrounds but we are there for each other and it is an open and honest group. It really lifts me meeting every couple of weeks to study God's Word and get support from a great group of women.

5. Soap. I never, ever use bar soap but was given a couple gifts of fine triple milled bar soap for Christmas and I must say I'm developing a new love for finely milled, scented soaps. So soft and luscious scents such as Cherry Blossom, Lotus Mint, Lavender Musk, Vanilla Tangerine, and Black Cassis.

So what were your favorite things from the week? Let us know. I love to read them and leave Friday's Fave Five feeling very uplifted. If you've done a post, sign on to Mr. Linky and we'll come and visit!

Good morning Susanne! I got some milled soap for christmas too. I still need to open it. Glad those socks are keeping your toesies warm. I start back to Bible Study this morning and am off to the kitchen to make an egg dish to take along...

My group starts next week - and I'm enjoying some lovely fruity Body Shoppe soap. I need to plan a long bath - I'm usually a shower girl and you don't enjoy it in the same way :)

Hope you get in some relaxing times on the weekend Suzanne!

Great 5! I definitely agree with you on candles. I adore them! My favorite right now is Home Interior's Cinnamon Struesel.

Have a great weekend!

What is a milled soap as opposed to regular soap?

I heart warm socks too.

How come you never use bar soap? I can tell you love scents - I got a Scentsy wax warmer from my brother-in-law for Christmas this year and it is amazing.

Ooooh, do I hear ya!! Friday's are my "day off" from my part-time job and the first time I really get a chance to breathe from about Saturday on! :) We've finally been in the 30s in Arizona so, I second that emotion on the socks!! I, too, enjoy a fine soap now and then as well! Great list--have a fabulous weekend!

Mine is up now that I am home from teaching. That vanilla tangarine soap sounds like something I would love this winter! And one of my things from my Thursday Thankful list was my new handknit warm sox!! Stay warm this weekend!

I have a love of bar soaps. I love the way they smell! I am always smelling the soaps everywhere... my kids think I'm crazy!

"Milled" means to rechip or grate the soap, melt and mold. So triple milled means it goes through the proces 3 times. It makes the soap fine and harder so that it lasts longer. Yet the soap suds feels very soft on the skin. :v)

I kind of like having bar soap.....think hubby is having a reaction to something we have here though so I need to find something plain! I need to burn some of my candles!

I would love to have a digital picture frame. Lucky you and what a sweet husband you have.

I've been burning all the last of the Christmas candles all week long, too. My favorite is the new Febreze scent, "fresh evergreen and snow." Smells just like a Christmas tree!

Those soap scents sound heavenly! Lovely luxuries for favoritism.

Susanne, I enjoy candles, too, but they have to be unscented for the Professor's sake. I'm looking forward to my ladies group starting up again in February.

I started back to bible study this week after having several weeks off during the holidays. I enjoyed getting back into it.

Candles are one of my faves as well...love to have them burning in the house.

I've never tried mill soap -- sounds interesting! I can't walk in socks due to balance and footing issues after TM, and I miss them -- I used to run around the house in them. I did get some with non-skid rubber stripes on the bottom but haven't tried them yet.

I received a digital frame last year...and actually don't like it too well...there's something about the constant movement that bothers my eyes and distracts me. I'm thinking of putting it on my husband's desk or seeing if eh wants to take it to work.

We have a digital frame also and it is wonderful. I could watch it for hours.

Thanks so much for hosting this!

There's a candle for "Midnight Pomagranate" at Bath & Body? I love that fragrance and only have the lotion and hand cream! I'm on my way!

It seems that many of us are gaining a new respect for milled soaps. I hadn't used them for years either until I got some a while back. The fragrance inticed me to try it, and I am so glad I did. It leaves my skin soft as a baby's bottom and smelling like a spring bouquet.

This would be my list of most recent 5 favorite things: (1) red bracelet for Christmas that was made by women in Uganda (2) meeting people who are doing missionary and health care work overseas that I might be able to be a part of someday (3) my son getting a great report following his two recent surgeries (4) getting our electronic medical records final approval, the ones that we created as a nursing group, at my job (5) and warm socks because it's been cold here where I live in California

susanne, i saw your comment over at linda's (2nd cup) blog and you mentioned a coffee shop called the ugly mug... are you referring to the one that used to be in memphis? i used to work there and it has such a home in my heart!! i've now moved away, but it was wonderful imagining someone else who'd been there (if it's the right one!!)
have a lovely day!

I too loved my digital picture frame my husband gave me for mother's day a couple of years ago...note past tense, as it died a couple of weeks ago. I miss it!
