Friday's Fave Five #10

Welcome to another additon of Friday's Fave Five! If you are new to this, you can find guidelines here. Jump right in. I'd love for you to join us.

Well, if you know me or read this site at all you're going to know that my Number 1 favorite thing from this last week was having my girl home for Thanksgiving. I could hardly wait for her to pull into the driveway. And she didn't even book the whole weekend up with friends. She spent most of her time with us, which was absolutely precious. I soaked in every single minute. I loved hearing how much she's loving bible school and how she is doing in the new adventure of living away from home. Putting her back on the bus on Monday will not be making this favorties list I can assure you!

#2. Favorite warm fuzzy moment: was handed to me by the aforementioned daughter home for Thanksgiving. Sitting around the table she just casually made the comment that it felt good to be home, because there were just little things I did that make home cozy and it showed I care. She said this while looking at the bowl of mini-gourds I had put on the table for fall. Such a simple thing, that literally took me all of 2 seconds to throw together, not much creativity and yet it made her feel home and cozy enough to illicit a comment. Gave me warm fuzzies all week.

#3. Thanksgiving! Oh how I love this holiday. The same hectic rush & pressure is not on it like it is at Christmas. The wonderful food, the relaxed atmosphere, weather usually nice enough to still go for a nice walk after pigging out partaking of the wonderful meal, enjoying family around, and the lovely colors of fall here and there around the house.

#4. Favorite Comment came from one of the four year olds in the dayhome. A little background. Hubby used to work in a place where he could dress quite casually. Docker kind of pants, polo shirt and leather jacket was the norm. This is how this little guy is used to seeing my hubby on a work day. Well, since hubby started the new job it's dress pants, dress shirt, and sports coat, sometimes even a tie. Today because of the cool weather, hubby had on a long overcoat over it all. The ensemble quite a bit different than before. Anyhoo, we were sitting around the lunch table, when hubby came in the door. The little guy looked at hubby and serious as all get out, said to him: "D_____ you look like something else". We almost bust a gut laughing. We knew he meant hubby looked like he was dressed different than he used to, but it was so funny. So all day, I've been telling hubby he looks like something else. LOL.

#5. Favorite coffee flavoring this week was: Monin Irish Cream Syrup. Yum. Yum. Unfortunately all these yummy syrups I bought last month are causing me to drink more coffee. Not good says Dr. Man as he checked my blood pressure again last night. I have to cut back to two cups a day. But if I can only have two cups, it's gonna be two delectable cups, I tell ya.

What have been your favorite things from this last week? C'mon. Share all. We'd love to come read. Don't forget to sign Mr. Linky so we know where you are! And c'mon back later today, I'll be having a giveaway for a great book!

Ahh that's sweet that your daughter expressed that compliment out loud to you. I'm glad you had some sweet time together and your thanksgiving was good. That's too funny about the comment from the little guy! :0)

This is so nice, Susanne. I hadn't looked at Thanksgiving that way, but you know, you're right. It's a wonderful holiday because there's the famility togetherness and all the wonderful food, but about half the stress of Christmas. I think your little gourd arrangement is adorable.

I'd love to shock you right out of your seat by doing this two weeks in a row. I have no children here today, so it could happen! LOL

First, though, I have to do the drawing for the book giveaway this morning and get that posted.

I love that your daughter said that to you...what a warm feeling indeed! :)Your Thanksgiving sounds just wonderful and I do sort of wish our American Thanksgiving could be pushed back a bit on the calendar!

Come over and help me wish hubby a happy birthday if you can...

Only us mama's who's kids have left home can understand where your heart is with your daughter. All four of mine are gone now - there is no greater joy than when they come home again!

I'm glad your Thanksgiving was good. I had dinner with my family and there are certain things that mom just does best!

I love having my family home, too! Isn't it the BEST thing to sit around the table and drink your favorite flavored coffee and talk?

Love those gourds. I was at a pumpkin patch and bought some really neat looking ones too. Here's the picture:

I so thought I was going to participate this week but my blog was down last night until later this morning, then I got busy and didn't get back to it. And now some of my kids are here visiting.
Hopefully next week for sure!
