Those are the wind turbines that run along a ridge in Pincher Creek, Alberta, that use wind which there is tons of in that area, to generate power. You don't realize how massive these things are until you get up close to them. Their enormity was really brought home to us when a train carrying their blades on flatbeds rolled by in our city. One blade was this massive. They were so huge it took us a minute to realize what they were.

Awesome! A train carrying parts for wind turbines crashed RIGHT IN MY TOWN last summer, and it took them DAYS to clean up all the mess!2

They are wanting to put some in our area, and a lot of people are objecting. I think they are pretty myself!☺

You are right about the size---I had no idea they were so large because I've only seen them from a distance!

I'm glad you gave an explanation! I've seen those before when we traveled out west...and it does look huge on that train!

The train (and the parked cars) put the blade in perspective. I didn't realize they were soooo huge!

Never in a million years would I have thought those blades were that huge. Truly, the photo of the wind turbines is very deceiving.

Wow. Great wordless wednesday, Susanne. And educational too! LOL

Wow, they're huge, we have quite a few up on the hills. Some people thought they spoil the view but I reckon they're doing a worthy enough job.

That is almost too staggering to believe. I never would have guessed they were that big.
