Bet You Can't Quote Just One!

It's all Shalee's fault. She had to ask. First she stole the idea from Chilihead. She made a post out of quoting her favorite quotes. But she didn't stop there. Oh, no. She then went and asked us to tell her what our favorite quote was. Oh, no. I love quotes. I adore a good quote. I collect quotes. In their very own cute little "quote" journal. And we all know the trouble I have answering something like that with just one or two short and sweet answers as evidenced by some of my plural answers in memes. So short of making like the good old days and hijacking her comment section, I thought I'd just steal her stolen post. So thanks to you, my friend Shalee, a whole post on some of my favorite quotes.

"It says something about our times that we rarely use the word sinful, except to describe a really good dessert" -William D. Ferrell

"The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, or ethnic background, is that we all believe we are above average drivers" -Dave Barry

"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful" -William Morris

"One kind word can warm 3 winter months" -Japenese Proverb

"I have learned to hold all things loosely, so that God will not have to pry them out of my hands" -Corrie Ten Boom

"It is not how much you do, but how much love you put into the doing that matters" -Mother Theresa

"Rum is a vile drink that turns even the most respectful men into complete scroundrels" -Elizabeth (Pirates of the Caribbean I)

"We have become so engrossed in the work of the Lord that we have forgotten the Lord of the work" -A.W. Tozer

"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say 'I used everything you gave me'" - Erma Bombeck

"Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die" - Author Unknown

"Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying 'I will try again tomorrow'" - Author Unknown

"I think I can, I think I can" -the Little Engine that Could

"I love you not only for who you are, but for what I am when I am with you" - Roy Croft

I have tons more but I'll have to quit there. So I'll do the same as Shalee and ask "What is your favorite quote?" Bet you can't pick just one (or two or three).

Awesome! I keep little binders full of quotes I like, although I'm not sure what I'm planning on doing with them.
My current favorite?

I read," I say. "I study and read. I bet I've read everything you read. Don't think I haven't. I consume libraries. I wear out spines and ROM-drives. I do things like get in a taxi and say, "The library, and step on it." My instincts concerning syntax and mechanics are better than your own, I can tell, with all due respect. But it transcends the mechanics. I'm not a machine. I feel and believe. I have opinions. Some of them are interesting. I could, if you'd let me, talk and talk.
- David Foster Wallace, "Infinite Jest"

Oh, you are trying to make me cry, quoting Erma AND Dave. I also loved the Japanese one.

Great quotes!

My favourite Pooh Bear quote:

It was a drowsy summer afternoon, and the Forest was full of gentle sounds which all seemed to be saying to Pooh, "Don't listen to Rabbit, listen to me." So he got into a comfortable position for not listening to Rabbit.

Always makes me smile.

You quoted a PoftheC quote, one of my favourites is Captain Barbossa's
I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request

I have a like a million CS Lewis quotes and LM Montgomery but I won't drag them all out here.

Hugs.

Oh dear it would be best not to get me going on quotes!

here's a favourite from the Bear

"It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"

and another from Anne

"Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about?
It just makes me feel glad to be alive- it's such an interesting world.
It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything,
would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?

that took 15 min of surfing because there are so many "interesting" quotes out there.

Stop me...please

PS I'm so glad to see the cast go in the trash!
