Word for the Weekend ~ I John 1:8-9

"If we say that we have no sin,
we are decieving ourselves
and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and righteous
to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness."
I John 1 : 8 - 9

That is one of our favorite verses around here! It's important, especially for the children, to understand that there is forgiveness and CLEANSING available if we'll only confess our sin to a holy and merciful God.

Lovely picture, too. :)

Beautiful. As always, Susanne, inspiring and just beautiful. You always pick the most perfect photo for your Word for the Weekend posts.

Funny. My father called me tonight because it's my birthday. Somehow, we got onto the subject of The Last Sin Eater by Francine Rivers.

Somehow this all seems to tie in. How nice it would be to have a sin eater nearby, huh?

Unfortunately, we are all accountable and yet, we are blessed because we know we are so easily forgiven for our sins, if we only believe.

Thank you for your birthday emails and I swear, as soon as I find some much needed energy, you will hear from me. My word, I'm tired!

God's words are so true.

My question is do we take these verses literally. Do we really confess our sins or do we just ask forgiveness and move on? I find that when I'm actually naming my sins that I am more aware of areas that need to be worked on in my heart. I'm not saying I'm good at what I'm preaching here, but that doesn't make the words less truthful...

Such a powerful, powerful promise. Why am I not so quick to confess and repent sometimes??

Loved this!
